RV rally added to casino plan

Kansas City, KS - August 28, 2008
By: Kansas Speedway

Kansas Speedway announced on Wednesday that its NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race sponsor, Camping World, has committed to bring a national RV rally to the speedway beginning in 2010 if Kansas Speedway and The Cordish Company are awarded the casino management contract for Wyandotte County (Kan.).

Camping World’s new RV rally, the “Heart of America RV and Outdoor Rally,” would be the first of its kind in the Midwest. The rally will bring an estimated 6,000 RVers to the area and drive an estimated annual economic impact of approximately $10 million. In addition to hosting the rally, Kansas Speedway has committed to adding premium RV parking spots as part of the hotel/casino property to accommodate casino RV guests throughout the year.

“This is another excellent example of what Kansas Speedway and The Cordish Company offer with our Hard Rock Hotel & Casino proposal,” said Kansas Speedway President Jeff Boerger. “Camping World is the speedway’s newest partner and they are excited at the prospect of working with us on events outside of race weekend. The Heart of America RV and Outdoor Rally would bring thousands of people from outside this area to experience what Kansas City, Kan. has to offer.”

“Camping World is committed to providing our customers unforgettable experiences,” said Camping World/FreedomRoads Chairman & CEO Marcus Lemonis. “The combination of amenities provided by the speedway and an adjacent premium gaming, entertainment and retail destination development like the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino would make the decision to bring our annual RV rally to Kansas Speedway very easy. RV enthusiasts will flock from across the country to take part in the festivities.”

In the past two weeks, Kansas Speedway and International Speedway Corporation have announced a potential road course for the speedway and that ISC would petition NASCAR to move an additional NASCAR Sprint Cup Series date to Kansas Speedway from one of its other facilities, as part of its Hard Rock Hotel & Casino proposal.

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which would be located in Kansas Speedway’s Turn 2 with strong visibility and access to both Interstate 70 and Interstate 435, will bring a distinctive and energetic destination entertainment and gaming experience to Wyandotte County and establish the area as one of the major sports and leisure destinations in the country.

Kansas Speedway ticket packages are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 866.460.RACE or logging on www.kansasspeedway.com.
