NASCAR promotes Moran to Cup Series Director's role

With just a month remaining before the Next Gen car makes its’ debut in the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum, NASCAR has named Brad Moran Cup Series Managing Director.

Moran, who previously oversaw the Camping World Truck Series, replaces Jay Fabian, who stepped down from the role in August following felony and misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty. 

A 60-year-old Ontario, Canada, native, Moran served as the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Director from 2008 until 2012 when he was named director of the Touring Series. Four years later, Moran took the top truck spot from Wayne Auton, who was promoted to Managing Director of the Xfinity tour.

“The entire competition team is incredibly strong at the NASCAR Cup Series level, and I look forward to helping them grow the series at this exciting time in our sport,” Moran said. “As we introduce the Next Gen car and continue to promote the outstanding talent and personalities at NASCAR’s top level, I’m honored to help shepherd the series alongside this experienced group of teammates.”

Seth Kramlich has been named Moran’s replacement as Managing Director of the Camping World Truck Series. For the past three seasons, Kramlich served as assistant director to Auton in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. A graduate of the University of Washington, Kramlich joined NASCAR in 2014 after four years at Evergreen Speedway.

“My NASCAR roots are with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, so it is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to return to one of the best series in all of NASCAR,” Kramlich said. “The Camping World Truck drivers, teams and fans are incredibly passionate about racing, and I’m honored to be chosen to help guide this great series.”

Both Moran and Kramlich will report to NASCAR Senior Vice President of Competition Scott Miller.

“Brad and Seth both share a racer’s mentality, and will bring knowledge, passion and strong relationships to these important roles,” Miller said. “We look forward to their leadership as they continue to help bring the best racing to our fans at both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series levels.”
