Taylor Reimer ready to tackle the USAC Midget ranks with KKM

Taylor Reimer will compete full-time for Keith Kunz/Curb Agajanian Motorsports (KKM) in the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget division in 2022.

Reimer, who turned 22 last month, returned to racing in 2021 following a seven-year absence to concentrate on academics and cheerleading.

Following a limited run with Dave Mac Motorsports, the University of Oklahoma Sooner joined forces with KKM in August.

“I’m super grateful to run for them,” Reimer told USACRacing.com. “Everything they do is top-level with their maintenance, and also how they take care of their drivers. Beau (Binder) is my crew chief and he’s one of the best crew chiefs I’ve had. He helps me on and off the track, giving me pointers and making sure that I’m comfortable in the car, which was a huge thing for me.”

At age six, Reimer followed her father’s path into motorsports behind the wheel of a go-kart. It was love at first lap. The Bixby, Oklahoma native went on to become the winningest female driver at her local track—Port City Raceway. To date, her accomplishments have not been matched.

For Reimer, combining school and athletics has always been a balancing act. She is scheduled to graduate this spring with a major in Health and Exercise Science and a minor in business.

Returning to racing under the KKM banner is reason enough to be optimistic. KKM is coming off of its 11th National Midget title after Buddy Kofoid locked down the championship in California last November.

“Their stats show they’ve had so much success," Reimer added. "They make sure I have what I need to be successful, and I think that started to show over the last couple of months, especially during the western swing.”

Over the last year, Reimer proved to be a quick study. After mastering micro sprints in her younger years, learning midgets was an entirely new discipline. But Reimer came into her own during the West Coast Swing. She became the sixth woman to top the speed chart in qualifying at Placerville, Speedway.  After a ninth-place result at Placerville, she qualified second to her KKM teammate Kaylee Bryson at Ventura Raceway for the first all-female front in USAC competition. Reimer closed out Turkey Night tying a career-high eighth-place finish.

She’ll kick off the USAC season the weekend of February 11-12 during the Winter Dirt Games XIII at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla. In her USAC midget debut last year with DMM, Reimer won her heat race on the second night and qualified for her first feature.

“I’m excited to start the season off at Bubba, where I picked up my first USAC heat race win last year,” Reimer said. “After getting to race at so many different tracks for the first time, I look forward to going back. I expect to improve from where I finished last year.”
