Sheets, Wettengel among Lakeside Speedway winners

KANSAS CITY,, Kansas — Special thanks to John Snyder, Jeff Goepferich Jr, Jeff Goepferich Sr, Chase Galvan, and Kasey Shields for carrying our Nations Colors and making the cross on the back stretch in honor of Memorial Day. Let us never forget the ones that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our Freedom, never take it for granted. Special thanks to Chris Crisp for singing our National Anthem and all Fans, Drivers, and Workers for another great night of racing and family fun.

Pure Stock would take to the track first with Heat winners #15 Ed Noll and Don Marrs #9 starting at the front of the field. Noll would take the front early only to see Marshall Jewett move to the lead and set his #7 on cruise with Marrs in pursuit. Jeff Goepferich Jr #67 would make his way to the bumper of Jewett for second until Jewett would develop a mechanical issue forcing him to pull in the infield and out of contention. Goepferich would inherit the lead and appear to be on his way to Nextran Victory Lane until a late race caution would regroup the field. On the restart Snyder would make his way around Goepferich and move out front with Noll the big mover coming from the back to the front after an early race mishap. Snyder would pick up his second feature win of the 2024 racing season at Lakeside Speedway and celebrate in Victory Lane. Goepferich would come home second with Noll third. Marrs would race to a solid fourth and Eddy Noll #15E would round out the night’s top five finishers.

Heat race winners in E-Modified were #47 Paul Carter and #8 Ethan Isaacs setting the stage for a fast and furious feature event. Isaacs would use a front row starting spot to take the lead with Carter challenging and Jason Park #79J in the mix for the front as well. Park would take the lead only to see Isaacs move back by and hold the top spot. Big mover of the race was #51 Corey Myers as he would work traffic to perfection and run down Isaacs in the closing laps. Isaacs would not be denied and capture his second E-Modified feature win of 2024 and parked in Nextran Victory Lane with Myers a close second on the night. Third would belong to a fast and consistent #6 of Zach Boyd with Park fourth and #21 Vic Tranckino challenging as he would finish a solid fifth place.

Kasey Shields #42C and Jaylen Wettengel #91J would win their perspective heat races as USRA Srock Cars would put on show for the ages. Sheilds would take the front as Wettengel would move by and Darrin Schmidt #85 making his presence felt. Big mover again was #32 Brent Filder as he would come from the back to the front and race among the leaders. Shields would work his way by Wettengel as Schmidt would take his turn in the front as a late race caution bunched the field for the closing race to the checkers. Wettengel would have a great restart and take the lead and claim his second feature win of 2024 in USRA Stock Car with Shields second and Schmidt third. Fourth would belong to the always fast and consistent #16S of Chris Dishong as Fielder would cross the line a solid fifth place on the night.

Our three heat race winners were Jon Sheets #8S, Patrick Royalty #954, and #311 Jon Baker setting the field for an outstanding feature. Shadren Turner #56 would challenge Karrick and pass for second only to see Karrick storm by on the inside. Kerry Davis #68 and Chad Clancy #57 would put on a show for the fans racing side by side for many laps for fourth and fifth spots. As the checkers flew, Sheets would win the feature in his first 2024 appearance at Lakeside Speedway and celebrate in Nextran Victory Lane. Karrick would race his way to second with
