Bailey, Foote, Henning among Bethany Speedway Memorial weekend winners

BETHANY, Mo. — May 25-Bethany Speedway has started the season bigger and better than it has in nearly 30 years. 71 cars signed in to fill the grid in 5 different classes with the Late Model class paying $1000 to the winner.

Emods started the night with #02 Chase Querry and #08W Brett Wideman side by side on row one. Querry led them out of turn two but hung the right side over the bank n slipped to 8th. Wideman just a couple laps later would also slip over the back stretch bank n fall to 7th. When the dust settled the battle for second was on because #23 Casey Burnett had already distanced himself from the field to take the win. #08P Peyton Baker crossed the line second but had a carburetor spacer issue that resulted in a DQ. That moved #H2K Coleman Browning to second and #16 E Johnny Eads to third. #11M Lane Matthew's, who had won both features so far this year, climbed to fourth with #3 Jared Hillyard fifth.

Front row in the Pure Stock feature was #11J Jake Starmer and #15 Ed Noll. Last race #15E Eddy Noll, son of Ed, finished second behind Starmer. This week, a Noll finished in second again as Starmer took his third straight win to start the season. #11s Tyler Starmer is slowly climbing the ladder every week n finished third. #49K Conrad Kaufman gained for spots to fourth. And the second week in a row, #55t Mich Ross, started at the back but fought to a top five. Thus week, 18th to fifth.

#211 Tim Eaton had won both features so far this year. But the Sportmod/Bmod cars keep coming and bring new faces each week. Eaton was a high and low looking for a way to the lead. But #1 Kyle Henning was on a rail the entire feature. Henning took the checkered with a strong performance. #6T Michael Taylor III, in his first appearance of the year at Bethany, ran a comfortable second. Eaton started coning on strong at the end but ran out if time and finished third. #66x Chris Wright finished fourth with #42c Clayton Stutesman.

The Stock Cars to to the track with #34x Mich Ross looking fir win number three. But Ross would have some problems while running second n not finish. So the battle was on for the win. It looked like #63 Scott Brown had the field covered, even as he had to fight of a few battles. Throughout the feature, #37 Randy Foote, had been picking cars off to try to finish second for the third time this year. When he climbed just inside the top five, #A1A Austin Kaplan tagged on to Footes back bumper. Together they marched the rest of the way to second and third. Foote shot to the inside n showed Brown his nose in turn four, coming to the checkered. Next lap, coming to the checkered, Brown jumped to the inside to take that line away from Foote. But Foote stayed right on the cushion and got a huge run out of turn four. Foote pulled off the win by 0.183 seconds over Brown. Yes, an eighteen hundredths of a second. Kaplan looked great in his first ever appearance n finished just behind that battle in third. #3 Brandon Dixon and #47x Connor Masoner both ran clean solid laps to finish fourth and fifth.

The Late Models lined up for $1000 to win. #7 Shayne Bailey has shown he'll be in the lead battle every week with a win and second already this year. Bailey took the lead at the drop of the flag and won his second feature. #33 Paul Glendenning spent a heat race and early laps of the feature trying to settle in on a track he hasn't raced at since the mid 1990s, nearly 30 years ago. When he found that fast line, he drove to second where he finished. #67D Isaac Dotson now has his third straight top three to start the season. #10 John Willard III has his third straight top four finish. And #55 D Mike Dotson finished fifth.

Bethany Speedway is quickly becoming the talk as car counts are providing the fans with majority full features and close racing lap after lap. Over by 10:30, we continue to push for even bigger and better racing, more fan friendly and much more family fun. Next race is this Saturday, June 1. With a bike giveaway coming up on June 15 and the Greg Querry Celebration on July 13.
