Drag Boats return this weekend for KDBA Summer Thunder on Lake Lucas Exte
WHEATLAND, Mo. — The excitement of drag boat racing returns to Lucas Oil Speedway this weekend for the first of three Kentucky Drag Boat Association-sanctioned appearances this season.
The KDBA Summer Thunder on Lake Lucas is scheduled to get underway with qualifying rounds on Saturday, tentatively set to begin at 9 a.m. Eliminations leading to championship rounds is set to get underway at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
It's part of a busy racing weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway with Big Adventure RV Weekly Championship Series action on the dirt track scheduled for Saturday night. Classes in action include the Arctic Food Equipment USRA Modifieds, O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars and the Clear Creek Golf Car USRA B-Mods who have a special 25-lap, $750-to-win feature. Added to the program is Mod Lites as they race for $500 to win.
Pit gates at the dirt track open at 4 p.m. with spectator grandstands at 5 p.m., hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.
The KDBA will have action in 10 pro and sportsman divisions, from the 200-mile-per hour Top Alcohol Hydro class all the way down to Personal Water Craft. Reigning KDBA champions in each of its 10 divisions are:

The KDBA has posted that the prize money will be a 70 percent/30 percent split between first and second in each class with the followed purse in each: TAH - $6,600; Pro Outlaw - $5,600; Pro Mod - $5,000; Q/E - $3,500; P/E - $3,000. P/E - $3,000; T/E - $2,600; T/E - $2,600; M/E - $2,100; S/E - $1,600; PWC - $600.
