VP Checkers Fly for Bidinger at Lakeside
KANSAS CITY,, Kansas — Nic Bidinger outlasted all competitors and mother nature to score the USRA Heartland Modified Tour Presented by Real Racing Wheels win, Friday night at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas.
Firing from the outside pole following the redraw, Bidinger jumped out to the lead and never looked back in grabbing his first series win. Tyler Wolff, who retired early, closed the gap on Bidinger near the midway point, but the races second and final Midwest Sheet Metal caution flew directly in front of the pair.
“I had to go 100 percent all the time,” said Bidinger following the race. “I saw Wolff's nose on the restart and one other time too, but I had no idea he fell out. The track crew did a good job getting the track back. It was good on bottom. When I had to move, there was track there. If we didn't run well here I would have been disappointed. We've raced here for years. I'm not saying we win, but I expect to run well here. It helps to have Cade Dillard's setup notes too!”
Gunner Martin and Tanner Black ran neck and neck for the majority of the race. They each recorded their best finishes of the year rounding out the evening's podium. Terry Phillips and Gabe Hodges finished fourth and fifth.
Lakeside Speedway officials deserve a huge nod of appreciation for sticking with the evening's program. Amid show shower slowed the show for about an hour. When the showers stopped the crew went to work and quickly got the track back in order, allowing for an entertaining feature.
Tomorrow night concludes the weekend with a stop at I-35 Speedway in Winston, Missouri. The show will pay $2,000 to win and mark the first of two visits there this season.
