Shadren Turner back on top at Lakeside Speedway

KANSAS CITY,, Kansas — Lakeside Speedway would honor one of the greats of our sport with the inaugural Bob Reber Memorial. We would like to thank all fans, drivers and staff for a great night of racing and family fun.

Pure Stock would see one of the best features of the night with heat race winners #7 Spencer Reiff, #712 Geoff Harvey and #9 Don Marrs all starting near the front. Reiff would take the early lead only to see Tim Pruett #46 challenge. Three and four wide racing would see multiple racing lanes as #43 JR Billings using the extreme high line, Reiff and #6 John Snyder middle and Harvey low side. Harvey would see a late race spin taking him from winning contention and again bunch the field. Billings would use the extreme high line and work his way past all competitors and take the top spot. Billings would not be denied and claim his first win of 2024 at Lakeside Speedway and celebrate in Nextran Truck Center Victory Lane. As Billings picked up the feature win, Snyder would work his way to second with Reiff racing to finish third. Fourth would see the always fast and consistent #7 of Marshall Jewett with Don Marrs rounding out the night’s top five.

Paul Lanfermann #16 and Corey Myers #51 would win their perspective heat races and set the stage for a stellar E-Mod feature. Myers and Lanfermann would battle side by side for the lead until contact would send both competitors to the rear of the field. Dennis Melvin #29 would impress, as he and Paul Carter #47 would fight it out for the front. Each would take their turn leading with Melvin looking like the car to beat until Corey Myers would charge late in the race making it a three-way battle for the win. Myers would make his move on the last laps of the feature and pass both Melvin and Carter to see the checkers and claim his first win at Lakeside this 2024 season. Myers would celebrate the win in Nextran Victory Lane with Melvin second and Carter third. Fourth would belong to #5J of Jeff Goepferich Sr with Lanfermann finishing a solid fifth on the night.

USRA Stock Cars would see Gary Donaldson #28D and #16S Chris Dishong win heat races and lead early as the feature took the green flag. Donaldson would charge to the lead as he and Tom Fogarty #T2 would grace the front row with all competitors in pursuit. Fogarty would develop mechanical issues taking him from the race as Dishong would take the top spot. Kasey Shields #42C, trying to make it two in a row and three on the season thus far, would get past Dishong and hold off the challenges of Jaylen Wettengel #91J. A late race caution would bunch the field with Dishong using the high line to get by Shields and appear to have the win in hand until Shields would work his way past and again capture the lead. Shields would not be denied and pick up the feature win with Dishing a close second and Wettengel third. Fourth would belong to the always fast and consistent Donaldson with #27C of Gene Claxton ending the race a solid fifth place.

With a loaded field of drivers, USRA B-Mods would not disappoint as heavy hitters #90 Terry Schultz, #56 Shadren Turner and #57 Aaron Marrant would all see heat race wins. Turner would take the early lead using the high line and see Kerry Davis #68 challenge. Turner would not be shaken or stirred, as Schultz would also find the high line and be in the mix as well. Marrant and the 1K of Tim Karrick would work traffic to perfection and march to the front as Turner continued to lead. Turner would win both his heat race and the feature on this night of competition and park the Whitt Family Racing #56 in Nextran Victory Lane. Marrant and Davis would put on a show for second with Marrant taking second and Davis third. Fourth would go to Schultz with Karrick racing his way to a solid fifth place showing.
