Rain ruins fourth straight USMTS race
WEBSTER City, Ia. — The stars and cars of the Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt will see the postponement of two more long-awaited events this week, bringing Mother Nature’s win streak to four.
A rare doubleheader in Nebraska was slated for this Tuesday, June 18, at the Off Road Speedway in Norfolk for the first time ever, and then Wednesday, June 19, at the Beatrice Speedway for the first time since 2007.
The 3rd Annual USMTS Battle by the Big Blue River presented by Valentino's will now happen Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the Beatrice Speedway—the night before the two-day Grant Junghans Memorial at the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 8-9.
Meanwhile, the Off Road Speedway management team is working on rescheduling their inaugural USMTS event. When finalized, the dates and event info will be announced, and the schedule at usmts.com/schedule will be updated.
After heavy rain showers brought an early end to the final night of the 25th Annual Masters at the Cedar Lake Speedway on Saturday, unfavorable conditions also soaked plans for Sunday’s event at the Granite City Motor Park in Sauk Rapids, Minn.
Officials from the Granite City Motor Park are also working with neighboring racetracks, series, sanctioning bodies and competitors to make it happen sometime later this summer.
Gressel Memorial on tap: This Friday and Saturday, June 21-22, the USMTS descends on the 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan, for three nights to honor racing legend Ed Gressel.
The 2nd Annual Ed Gressel Memorial pays $5,000 to win Friday's main event and a $10,000 top prize awaits Saturday night's highest finisher.
