OGILVIE, Minn. — The Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, Minn., will host the 4th Annual Mod Wars featuring Summit USMTS Modifieds vs. Wissota Modifieds on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 11-13.
The main event will pay $3,000 to win on Thursday and $5,000 to win Friday with an $11,000 top prize earmarked for Saturday’s champion.
‘The Big O’ has hosted 21 nights of USMTS racing since the inaugural event won by Jason Hughes on August 17, 2011—his first of three triumphs here—but it’s been nearly eight seasons since his last one.
Only two other drivers have multiple wins at the state-of-the-art venue located an hour north of the Twin Cities. One of them is Jake Timm who is the current points leader in the Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt.
A two-time defending champion of Mod Wars and four-time winner here, Timm will likely be tough to tame as the 27-year-old from Winona, Minnesota, has claimed three of the last four checkered flags in Ogilvie.
With three career wins, Stormy Scott is the only other winner of multiple USMTS main event victories in Ogilvie.
Other USMTS winners at Ogilvie include Jeremy Payne, Jason Krohn, Zack VanderBeek, Shane Sabraski, Johnny Scott, Dan Ebert, Jake O'Neil, Alex Williamson, Dave Cain, Dustin Sorensen and Jim Chisholm.
Four other race nights have been rained out, postponed or canceled due to the pandemic, as was the case in 2020.
Ogilvie Raceway officials will host an open practice on Wednesday, July 10, with the pits opening at 4 p.m. and free admission to the grandstands. Practice takes place 6-9 p.m.
On Thursday and Friday, the pits open at 4 p.m., grandstands open at 5, hot laps begin at 6:30 and racing starts at 7. On Saturday, the pits open at 3 p.m., grandstands open at 4, hot laps begin at 6 and racing gets underway at 6:30.
Wissota Midwest Modifieds and Wissota Mod Fours join the program each night.
Notable names searching for their first USMS win at Ogilvie Raceway include four-time USMTS national champion Rodney Sanders, Terry Phillips, Tanner Mullens, Tyler Davis, Lucas Schott and Lance Mari.

The meticulously maintained grounds also include south facing grandstands, high quality lighting, a state-of-the-art public address system and a trackside tailgating section along the turns where fans can watch the action from the comfort of their car, the back of their pickup truck or in their RV
