Houston Johnson, Tyler Kidwell score at Humboldt Speedway

HUMBOLDT, Kansas — Friday night was the perfect night at the Humboldt Speedway, Mother Nature did her job with the weather, Aiello Fireworks delivered an awesome fireworks display and as usual the racing was top notch.  The big announcement was made at the beginning of the night that next Friday's Havoc at the Hummer is now paying 1000.00 to win the Home Savings Bank Factory Stock special.

The Home Savings Bank Factory Stocks would start off the show with several new drivers in the field testing the waters for next week's Havoc at the Hummer. The heat races would see Wichita's Austin Ramey and Dallas Joyce picking up the wins and setting up the A-main lineup. Point leader Dallas Joyce would take the lead early on, but he would have to fend off challenges from Joey Richmond who was making the most of his first trip to the Hummer. Joyce would pick up the win and add to his points lead with only 5 weeks remaining in the season. Behind Vance would see Richmond, Dylan Allen, Austin Ramey and Bryson Kitterman filling out the top 5.

The ARMI Contractors USRA modifieds were back in action after having the week off last week. The heat race winners were Lone Jack, Mo. Driver Chad Lyle in the first heat with Wichita's Wyatt Gaggero picking up heat race two. The feature would see Houston Johnson making his second stop in the Pete's Convenience store's victory lane in 2024. Behind Johnson would be Wyatt Gaggero, Randall Schiffelbein Jr., Chad Lyle and Paden Phillips.

The Wilson Automotive Mini Stocks and Tuners would see new faces in the field as well. The heat races went to a pair of Oklahomans as Dillon Box and Tyler Harris to set up the feature. The two heat race winners would start in row three for the A-Main, but it didn't take long for them to make their way to the top spots. Dillon Box would set sail once he got the lead and was followed to the checkers by Tyler Harris, Ken Hapy, Larry Trester and Clayton Brown.

The Ray's Metal Depot USRA B-Mods would roll out next for their feature. Point leader Tyler Kidwell would use his 2nd row starting spot to take lead and never looked back. Kidwell extended his point lead with 5 races left on the schedule. Following Kidwell to the checkered was Brad Smith, Patrick Lewis, Cayden Stayce and Andrew Hodges to complete the top 5.

The final class of the night was the Extrusions Inc Midwest Mods and this one gave the fans all they could ask for. The heat racers were won by Matt Kay, Jimmy Davis and Casey Jesseph to set up the final feature of the night. The feature looked like Matt Kay was going to run off and grab another feature win as he had a sizable lead until a late race caution would wipe that out. That would bunch up the field and put Jimmy Davis right behind Kay. At the drop of green Davis took his shot and pulled alongside Kay and would get around Kay as the field took the white. Davis would go on to pick up the win and the trip to Pete's Victory Lane.  Davis would be followed by Kay, mover of the night Austin Smith who would move up7 spots to 3rd, Casey Jesseph and Brad Jarman to complete the top 5.

That feature set the bar high but, Aiello Fireworks delivered with a great fireworks show to close out a great night of racing. The Humboldt Speedway will be back in action the Friday July 12th with the Havoc at the Hummer paying 1000.00 to win the Home Savings Bank Factory Stocks. This is going to be a good one with drivers from all around coming to shoot it out for the big money!
