Marrant, Wettengel, Carter and Noll all see Checkers First at Lakeside Speedway

KANSAS CITY,, Kansas — Lakeside Speedway would like to thank all Fans, Drivers, Crews and Staff for a great night of racing and family fun. Thanks to X’Factor Motorsports for sponsoring the Kid’s Money Grab and all that donated a bike that was given away during Intermission. I apologize for Intermission going a little long, but we had so much going on. Thank you goes out to our great sponsor Nextran Truck Center for all their added money and giveaways during the night with special thanks to Chad Clancy for all he does organizing this event for Nextran.

E-Mods would kick off a night of great racing action with #61 Jeff DeGroot and #6 Zach Boyd winning their perspective heat races and setting the stage for a stellar feature.  DeGroot and Boyd would battle for the front with Boyd taking the lead as Paul Carter #47 would find the low line and move into second. Carter would work the low line to perfection and move past a very fast Boyd to take the lead as DeGroot would continue to battle among the leaders as #79J Jason Parks would flex his muscle challenging. Current point leader Paul Lanfermann #16L would charge through the field and battle Parks in the closing laps. Carter would not be denied and claim his first win of 2024 and park in Nextran Victory Lane to celebrate with family and friends. Boyd, coming off a win the week prior, would come home second with DeGroot a close third. Parks would settle in to a solid fourth place finish with Lanfermann having another consistent top five on the night.

Pure Stock would roar to the track with #15 Ed Noll and #46 Tim Pruett both capitalizing and winning heat races to grace the front row at the start of the feature.  Noll would take the early lead with John Snyder #6 and #9 Don Marrs challenging. Contact would send Marrs tumbling over on the front stretch as he would be ok but the car not so much. On the restart, Noll would again hold the lead and cruise to his sixth feature win at Lakeside Speedway this 2024 racing season. Marshall Jewett #7 was the big mover of the feature racing his way to second with Snyder a very close third on the night. #67 Jeff Goepferich Jr was one of the faster cars battling for the front until engine issues took him from contention. Fourth place would belong to Jeff Harvey #712 with Joseph Smith #56 claiming the fifth finishing spot.

Robert Garst #915, #91J Jaylen Wettengel, and #42C Kacey Shields would all win heat races and be in the hunt for the USRA Stock Car feature win. Garst would take the early lead only to see Wettengel thread the needle and take over the front bringing the fast Shields with him to compete. Brent Fielder #32 would flip wildly in turn one reducing his race car to scrap but he would come from the car unhurt. Wettengel and Shields would put on a show of epic proportions for the fans racing side by side with one high and one low on the fast smooth racing surface. 2023 Track Champion Darrin Schmidt #85 would challenge both Wettengel and Shields for position throughout the feature but could not find a way around. Rodney Schweizer #74 was in the hunt for the front as he and #16S of Chris Dishong would battle. Wettengel would pick up the feature win making it two in a row with Shields a very close second and Schmidt third. Fourth would belong to Schweizer with Dishong a close fifth on the night’s feature.

Tim Karrick #1K, Aaron Marrant #57M and Kerry Davis #68 would win their heat races setting the stage for the USRA B-Modified feature. Karrick would take the lead early only to see Marrant motor by bringing teammate Chad Clancy #57 with him. Marrant would hold the lead on Nextran Night at the Races with a battle of the Clancy’s for second and third as brothers Stephen and Chad would do battle. Marrant would not be denied the win claiming his second victory of 2024 at Lakeside Speedway with Chad Clancy a close second and Stephen Clancy #12C third. Karrick would end the feature fourth with the always fast and consistent Kerry Davis rounding out the night’s top five in a caution free feature.
