H Johnson, Richards, Keller score wins at I-35 Speedway

WINSTON, Mo. — Another great night at I-35 Speedway brought lots of fast racing and fans excited for the action. Tonight started off a little differently, as we ran make-up features in Pure Stocks and B-mods caused by the rainout on June 22nd. James Silkwood won the Pure Stock feature to extend his track point lead. This was Silkwood's first feature win of the season. Adam Dunwoodie finally broke through and got his first feature win in the B-mods after finishing 2nd in the previous 3 feature races.

After we finished heat racing, we quickly moved into the feature events. Mike Lefholz collected his 2nd feature win of the season as we welcomed back the Vintage Open series. Matt Johnson won his first start this season in the Late Models after starting on the front row. Jake Richards also collected his first win of the season in the USRA B-Mods after battling with Tyler Cadwallader the entire race.

We also seen some familiar faces in victory lane tonight. Alvin Cooney goes back-to-back in the Sport Compacts, collecting his 3rd feature win this season. Houston Johnson continues his July tear and wins his 3rd consecutive feature in the USRA A-Mods at I-35, his 5th total win this season. Johnson currently leads the USRA Central Region A-Mod point standings and is 3rd in USRA National points.

Doug Keller also goes back-to-back in the USRA Stock Cars, this was win number 2 this season for Keller. Grant Sheetz used a front row starting spot to collect his 13th feature win this year in Jr. Sport Compacts.

Tony Layne made his return to the track tonight after a scary rollover accident on the front stretch earlier this year. Layne went on to dominate the E-mod feature and collect his 1st feature win this season. Jakub Hisel found his way back in victory lane at I-35, grabbing the feature win in the second Pure Stocks feature. This was win number 6 for Hisel, his first feature win since June 1st.

Another huge thank you to all the drivers and race crew members for bringing out fast racecars ready to compete. Thank you to all the race fans who brought the energy to the track tonight for making I-35 Speedway a great place to be. There were 15 heat races and 11 feature events and all races completed at 10:36 P.M. Another great job by all track officials and safety crews for maintaining a fast speedway and keeping all of our drivers and race fans safe. Weekly racing picks back up next Saturday night, we can’t wait to see everyone again next week at I-35 Speedway. Full results for 7/13/24 are posted below:
