Kade Higday penalized for tire test violation at Knoxville
KNOXVILLE, Ia. — Knoxville Raceway officials have announced a penalty for Kade Higday and the #24 Kade Higday Racing team due to a failed tire test following their participation in the 360 Knoxville Championship Series on July 20 and the 360 Shootout.
During the event, tire samples were collected from the top three finishers. These samples were analyzed by an independent laboratory for any chemically altering substances, employing a comparative analysis method.
Testing results of Higday's right rear tire used in the Feature race indicated that the tire had been modified and did not meet the standards set by Hoosier Tire Company. Subsequent verification by an additional analysis confirmed these findings.
As a consequence of this violation, Higday will forfeit the feature win, prize money, and points earned from July 20. All drivers in the 360 A Main will advance one position, thereby awarding the feature win and first-place prize money to Austin McCarl.
Knoxville Raceway's rule 1.5-I on tires states:
Chemical Treatment of Tires: Hoosier Racing Tire and Knoxville Raceway strictly forbids any chemical alteration of the tire carcass and/or tread compound such as tire "soaking" or use of tread "softener." Hoosier Racing Tire strictly forbids the physical defacement (removal, altering or covering) of tire sidewall markings in any manner. Failure to comply with this warning could result in premature or catastrophic tire failure and may result in SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
