ARMS Modified Weekend Sweep for Henigan in Louisiana
GREENWOOD, La. — Break out the brooms and have a party, Chris Henigan completed the weekend sweep and picked off yet another win in the cajun state grabbing the VP Racing Fuels checker flags, Saturday night, at Boothill Speedway.
Contrary to his outside pole starting spot one night ago, Henigan had to work a bit harder for Saturday's $2,000 payday. B-Mod regular Josh Baucom bolted on a spoiler to go toe to toe with the mighty Modifieds, and led the field to the green after snagging the pole via the top six redraw.
Leading the opening handful of laps, Baucom eventually found himself in a three way war with Drake Findley and Chase Hatton. Hatton stole the lead on the top side of the race track looking to run away from the field. Midwest Sheet Metal cautions spoiled the party and kept the field close, and that’s when Henigan’s veteran experience was on full display.
After dodging multiple issues in front of him to keep the car in good shape, Henigan lined up third on the race's final restart with 14laps to go. A good start allowed the Marshall, TX native to split the gap between the leaders in turns one and two, taking the lead for good.
Series veteran Kenny Gaddis turned in his best performance of the year with a runner up finish. Baucom ran a clean race finishing third, Jon Mitchell ran fourth and Joe Duvall completed the top five after starting 18th. Heat race wins went to Hatton, Mitchell and Jade Luzenberg.
Joe Duvall continues to lead the standings in the hunt for the championship. Philip Houston holds down second. Sam Osman, Chase Hatton and Kenny Gaddis claim the current balance of the top five.
Next up for the ARMS presented by Day Motor Sports is a twin bill next weekend at 105 Motor Speedway in Cleveland, Texas. Racing will take place both Friday and Saturday evening's.
