MWRA Weld Memorial this Friday at Lakeside

KANSAS CITY,, Kansas — This Friday night August 16th the Wholesale Batteries USAC MWRA Sprint Cars return to Lakeside Speedway for the second time in 2024 to race in the Weld Memorial.


So Far This Season:

Since the lid lifter on April 6th at Valley Speedway the Midwest Wingless Racing Association has conducted 9 race meets in 2024 with the last coming at I-35 Speedway in Winston, Missouri, won by Kobe Simpson of Bonham, Texas, over Wyatt Burks, Topeka, Kansas, and Dakota Earls, Independence, Missouri, rounding out the podium. Seven different winners have parked it in victory lane this season with MWRA, only Wesley Smith, Nixa, Missouri, and Jack Wagner, Lone Jack, Missouri, have found victory lane twice.


Point standings:

Coming into the Weld Memorial at Lakeside Speedway with 4 races to go in 2024, Burks leads in points over Simpson, Chad Winfrey of Gladstone, Missouri, Luke Howard, Overland Park, Kansas. and Earls completing the top 5. While Junior Parkinson, Wichita Falls, Texas, Michael Moore, Camden, Missouri, Zach Clark, Raymore, Missouri, Smith,  Kory Schudy, Battlefield, Missouri, Tyler Burton, Independence, Missouri, and Justin Johnson, Kansas City, Kansas, rounding out the top 12 respectively.


History at Lakeside Speedway:

Since the first season of competition for the Midwest Wingless Racing Association in 2020, 7 points paying races have been conducted at Lakeside with Don Droud Jr. winning the first one on 6/26/20 followed by Burks on 8/28/20 for the (Weld Memorial), and Riley Kreisel winning a non points show on 10/2/20. Wagner was victorious at Lakeside for the Weld Memorial on 8/6/20, with Burks winning the Weld Memorial on 8/5/22, and taking both victories in 2023 at Lakeside, 6/16/23, and the Weld Memorial on 8/18/23. This season Xavier Doney was victorious on 5/10/24 at Lakeside Speedway.

Following the Weld Memorial at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, the MWRA Sprints will return to Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri on August 24th.
