JACKSON, Minn. — Carson Macedo and Brandon Bosma were victorious on Friday night at Jackson Motorplex, which hosted Night 2 of the 46 th annual FENDT Jackson Nationals.

The front row of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series main event consisted of the last four FENDT Jackson Nationals champions with Logan Schuchart - the 2020 and 2021 event winner - on the pole and the two-time defending champion Macedo on the outside.

Macedo quickly powered into the top spot at the start and led the distance of the 30-lap feature, which was only slowed one time for a caution with 10 laps remaining.

Traffic ramped up the excitement of the race that featured a myriad of slide jobs and in the waning laps Sheldon Haudenschild, who hustled from fourth to second place on the late restart, closed to within a couple of car lengths of Macedo. However, Macedo was able to pick through traffic efficiently to win by 0.402 seconds.

"I was able to get a really good start to the feature, get by Logan and take command of the feature," he said. "I could feel that my pace was slowing down as we got to traffic. I got held up big time off (turn) four one time by a lapper.

"Wins are what keeps everybody's spirits up. We haven't done as much this year as we have in the past. We run in the top five often, but we just haven't been winning enough. Hopefully we can double up tomorrow and get another Jackson Nationals under our belt."

Macedo has won three of the last five World of Outlaws A Mains at Jackson Motorplex. The performance on Friday marked his fourth career series triumph at the track.

Haudenschild's runner-up result was his 17 th top five of the season with the World of Outlaws.

"I had a good restart there," he said. "I had a lane open, went around them. I felt I was pacing the No. 41 nice there. I just didn't capitalize in traffic."

David Gravel captured a third-place finish to increase his lead in the World of Outlaws championship standings.

"I thought we had a really good race car," he said. "The track was slightly top dominant, but the lapped traffic made it exciting. I'm really, really happy with the car. It's been fun to drive the car this year and I'm looking forward to tomorrow for sure."

Aaron Reutzel was fourth and Schuchart rounded out the top five.

Gravel set quick time during qualifying before the heat races were won by Dusty Zomer, Macedo, Haudenschild and Bill Balog. Schuchart drove to the dash victory and Kelby Watt was the Last Chance Showdown winner.

Bosma garnered a FENDT Jackson Nationals title by leading the final 23 laps of the $2,500-to-win Wyffels Hybrids RaceSaver Sprint Car Series presented by Heser Auto & Detailing main event.

"It's pretty awesome," he said. "This means a lot. This is the biggest win in my career. Knowing everybody who's won this race and to put my name in the history books is pretty awesome."

The feature got off to a rough start with three cautions and a red flag before three laps were completed. John Lambertz led the first two laps before Bosma drove around him exiting turn two following a restart. He held off a mid-race charge from 10th-starting Jacob Peterson and a late rally from Lee Goos Jr. to win by 0.627 seconds.

Monty Ferriera, who started 13th, found something in the middle of the track in the second half of the race to advance for a third-place result. Matt Johnson finished fourth and Peterson was fifth.

Logan Moore and Mike Stien were the B Main winners.

The FENDT Jackson Nationals finale is Saturday with a $25,000-to-win World of Outlaws program as well as a $5,000-to-win Gunderson Racing Inc. Midwest Sprint Touring Series 360 Sprint Cars feature. The gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps slated to start at 7 p.m.
