Kerry Davis tops USRA B-Mods at Lakeside Speedway

KANSAS CITY, Kansas —   Lakeside Speedway again would like to thank all Drivers, Fans, Crews and Staff for another stellar night of racing action and Family Fun. Special thanks to Tim Gifford, Jan Gifford, Larry Waters, Ralph Palmer, Tonya Palmer and Ron Zink for helping pass the free tickets to all our Veterans and Active Military in attendance. Great opening ceremonies as we honored the Tinsley Family and prepared for our races. Special thanks to all Drivers that allowed me a few minutes of their time to interview in the pits prior to racing. See all next Friday night for the Ellis Family Memorial.

E-Modifieds were first to kick of the action at Lakeside Speedway with #16 Brian Dultmeier and #41 Chris Dishong winning heat races to set the stage. As the green flag was displayed, #51 Corey Myers would choose the high line and Dishong the low line as the two raced side-by-side with Dultmeier challenging. Dishong would use the low line to perfection taking the front only to see Myers pull back ahead on the high side. These two gladiators would duel the entire feature with Dultmeier challenging and holding off a very fast and charging Jason Parks #79J. One of the big movers of the feature was #9X Zach Boyd as he would move through the field of competitors late. Corey Myers would not be denied and see the checkers first and claim win #2 of 2024 and park in Nextran Truck Center GMC Victory Lane with Dishong a close second. Third would belong to Dultmeier with Parks fourth and Boyd rounding out the night’s top five finishers.

Low in number but high in quality and excitement, USRA Stock Cars would take to the fast, smooth, near perfect track and put on a show as #91J Jaylen Wettengel and Chris Dishong #16S would battle for the front. Wettengel would get the lead early and see challenges from the #27’s of Gene Claxton #27C and Dave Oxford #27 but would not be shaken and continue his assault on the field and stay out front. Claxton would be the big mover and challenge late to take over the front but again, Wettengel would not be denied. Wettengel would sweep the night at Lakeside Speedway winning both heat race and feature to celebrate in Nextran Victory Lane with his colony (group of penguins). Claxton would have a great night placing second with Dishing third. DJ Barnes in his #5DJ would have a solid night racing to place fourth with Brian Peters#13D rounding out the night’s top five.

USRA B-Mods never disappoint as Kerry Davis #68 and Kyle Henning #1 would both see heat race victories and start up front for the feature. Davis would take the lead early with Henning and #1K Tim Karrick challenging every lap. Karrick would settle into second and set his sights on Davis vying for the lead. Davis would change his line from top to bottom and Karrick would seize the opportunity charging by taking the top spot. Davis would move back to the top line and start to close in until Karrick would develop mechanical issues taking him from the race and win potential. Davis would take back over the lead with Henning showing muscle as Mark Schafman in the Sammy Schuler prepared #44S would slide into the picture to challenge Henning for second. John Baker would race his #311 to the front settling into fourth as the laps wound down with Brian Andrews in the mix as well. Davis would drive a near flawless race and see the checkers first claiming win #1 at Lakeside Speedway in 2024.  As Davis would celebrate, Henning would place second with Schafman third, Baker fourth and Andrews #36 fifth.

In the last race of the Karl Tinsley Memorial, with added money to the purse, Pure Stocks would storm to the track. Heat race winner Ed Noll #15 would take the lead on the drop of the green flag with #67 Jeff Goepferich Jr nipping at his heels and challenging. Other heat race winner and current point leader John Snyder #6 would charge for the front but not be able to take the lead. The #7’s of Spencer Reiff and Marshall Jewett would do battle the entire feature as Don Marrs #20X was your big mover of the race. Eddy Holl #15E would show muscle running down dear old dad until a late race spin in turn four would bring out the yellow sending him to the rear of the field. As green would again be displayed, Noll would charge to the front and hold off all challenges from a fast #25 of Tim Billings. Noll would see the checkers first picking up the win. After post-race inspection, Goepferich Jr would come home second with Marrs a close third. Fourth would belong to a fast Reiff in #,7  with point leader Snyder another consistent and solid fifth place showing.
