Turner, Wettengel headline Ellis Family Memorial at Lakeside Speedway

Kansas City, Kansas — Lakeside Speedway would like to again thank all Drivers, Crews, Fans, and Staff for a great night of racing action and Family Fun. Special thanks to all who donated backpacks and supplies for the kids back to school and those that helped pack and distribute. Special thanks go out to Larry Waters for bringing the old ‘48 out and giving kids a ride at opening and during Intermission. We will schedule this again as there were so many more kids that needed to take a spin. Michael Night delivered an outstanding National Anthem for Opening Ceremonies setting the stage for us to get things going. Special thanks to him for the Anthem and for the service he gave our country in the Army. See everyone next Friday Night for the Janet Billings Memorial as we present one of the biggest, 25 lap, action filled, Pure Stock events of the season.

Paul Lanfermann #16L and #9X Josh Boyd would both win their perspective heat races and set the stage for the green to drop on an outstanding field of E-Modifieds. Lanfermann would get the edge and lead lap one only to see Boyd charge back by and pull ahead by several car lengths with Devin Dultmeier #8 looking for the front. Dultmeier would have contact with another car dashing his hopes for victory as Boyd continued to lead. Corey Myers #15X would enter the picture up front as he and a fast #41 of Chris Dishong would battle swapping the positions many times throughout the feature. Brian Dultmeier #16 was big mover of the feature coming through the pack to challenge in the closing laps. Boyd would claim the checkers and his third win of 2024 at Lakeside Speedway celebrating in Nextran Truck Center Victory Lane as Myers would cross the line second and Dishong third. Fourth would see Brian Dultmeier as point leader Paul Carter #47 would finish a solid fifth place on the night.

Entering the track with a new car, Pure Stock would see #0 Chase Galvan impress a tough field of competitors winning both heat race and feature. Galvan would start on row one as the green would fly with other heat race winner and current point leader John Snyder #6 ready to do battle. Galvan would stay side by side with Snyder as Ed Noll #15 would take the lead. Noll would lead until going through the spin cycle in turn four forcing him to the rear of the field. Jason Park would challenge Galvan who would take over the lead with #67 of Jeff Goepferich Jr charging to the front as well. Marshall Jewett #7 would be in the hunt as he and Park #51 would battle throughout the feature. Galvan would not be denied and park his #0 in Nextran Victory Lane serving notice to all he is back and will be a contender the rest of 2024. Second place would see #15 Ed Noll make his way through the pack with a good recovery as Park would come home in the third position. Fourth place would see Goepferich Jr with the always fast and consistent Jewett rounding out the night’s top five.

USRA Stock Cars never disappoint at Lakeside Speedway and this night of racing would be no different. Heat race winners were 2023 Point Champion Darrin Schmidt #85 and #91J Jaylen Wettengel as we would prepare to drop the green on the field. Schimdt would race side-by-side with a fast Wettengel with #74 Rodney Schweizer challenging both at the line. Chris Dishong #16S was in the mix as well as #15X Corey Myers as these two would put on a show for the fans in attendance. Steve Herrick #5 and Gerald Wahwahsuck #11W would battle with close racing and never touch as Schmidt would mount a charge late. Wettengel would take the lead and never look back holding off all challengers to pick up the feature win with Schweizer second. Third would see Dishing with another solid finish with the always fast #5 of Herrick placing fourth. After post-race inspection, Corey Myers would round out the night’s top five finishers in USRA Stock Cars.

USRA B-Mods would roar to the track with #12C Stephen Clancy and #56 Shadren Turner both winning heat races. As the feature would start, we would see an all-Clancy front row with Stephen on the inside and Chad #57 on the outside to get things going. Stephen Clancy would take the early lead only to see Turner make a move on the extreme low line and take over the front moving both Clancy’s back a spot early. Jake Richards #7J would be the big mover as he would work through traffic and set his sights on Turner mid-race. Previous week winner Kerry Davis #68 would do battle with both #1’s as Karrick #1K and Kyle Henning #1 would both charge to the top five. Turner would win both heat race and feature on this night of competition as he would park the Whitt Family prepared #56 in Nextran Truck Center Victory Lane. Richards would have a great feature racing his way to place second as Chad Clancy would finish a solid third. Fourth place would see Davis as Kyle Henning would end the feature with a solid fifth place showing.
