BETHANY, Mo. — September 14-Some race tracks only dream of nights like Bethany Speedway had Saturday night. It was a huge success all the way around with the Shawna Dye Memorial, sprint cars on hand, the last race of the 2024 season, giveaways, coin drop for the kids and storylines in every feature.

The Emod feature took to the track first. #14H Blake Hayes has been on a tear, winning the last two points races (not counting the fair). Starting on the pole gave him a shot at ending the season with three in a row, which is exactly what he did. And topped it off with a donut in victory lane. #11D Caleb Dennis has worked his way thru all the mechanical problems he was having to finish second. #H2K Coleman Browning and #08P Peyton Baker were third and fourth. #23J Casey Burnett started well outside the top ten in 14th. But worked his way up eight spots to round out the top five.

Pure Stock was up next. #55T Mich Ross has spent most of the season in the top five but not able to land in victory lane yet. He took the lead early and was on his way to getting there. But late in the race, on a restart, #11S Tyler Starmer came alive and worked around him and on to pick up his first win of the season. Ross held strong to finish second. #17C Alvie Christofferson, #15E Eddy Noll and #4B Jarrold Burns finished third thru fifth.

The RaceSaver Sprint Cars made their one and only appearance of the year for the Shawna Dye Memorial. Many people had a hand in making this race so big and such a success. But the real success came on the track. With the top three drivers rolling a dice to get their starting spot, #20D Jacob Dye would roll the pole. When the green flag came out Dye drove away from the field. It looked like nobody could touch him. But on a restart about a third of the way in, #45 Monty Ferriera snuck around him. On each of the next three restarts, Dye would try high and low and anything he could to keep pace with Ferriera. With just a few laps left, on the next to last restart, Dye knew it was his last shot. He drove it deep down into the bottom of turn one. Got side by side and let the car drift up to get the best rum down the backstretch. Right as he exited turn two, Ferreira slipped the right rear over the bank. Dye drove passed him n pulled away. When the white flag came out, the 1500+ fan count in the grandstands stood up out of their seat. Hundreds of them turned their phone lights on and held them high as Jacob circled the track one more time to get the checkered flag. The crowd exploded with the loudest cheering to come from the grandstands in years. In victory lane, Dye took a minute to collect his thoughts before he climbed the back of his sprint car. One of the most fitting wins in Bethany Speedways short track history.
The rest of the top five provided plenty of excitement also. #75 Jay Russell had an issue early and had to restart at the back early in the race. But drove straight back to the front to finish second. #69 Mike Moore took his time to find his way from midpack to third. #10 Mike Trent and #45 Ferriera both tan in the top 6 the entire race and finished fourth and fifth.

The Bmod class saw #345 Shayne Bailey doing double during in Bmod and Late Model. But with the Late Model breaking as he took the lead in the heat race, he could focus more on just the Bmod. It paid off with Bailey leading every lap to victory lane. #27 Tyler O'Neal had problems in the heat race which dropped him to the back of the feature to start. But as he has been one of the top guys to beat the last couple months, he used every lap to gain on the front cars. One the final lap he drove to the outside of #15 Kyle Russell to finish second. Russell looked as good as has for a long time pressuring Bailey at times, but finished third. #5c Colen Browning finished fourth with #66x Chris Wright finished fifth.

With Bailey being broke, that left two cats in the Late Models. So laps were cut down accordingly. In the heat race #67D Isaac Dotson took off to beat #05 Jacob Brock. When the green flag came out on the Late Models. For a lap, both cars were slipping, but then the #05 took off. It looked like Jacob Brock would take his first win. But when the #05 car pulled into victory lane, Isaac climbed out of the #05 machine. They had switched cars, but Dotson still took the win.

The Stock Cars always provide one of the best races. #34x Mich Ross, started the season winning the first two races. #37 Randy Foote finished second in both those races. Then Foote went on a winning streak and going into the final night hadn't finished outside the top three all year. But Ross was set on reminding everyone he was still a top player in the Stock Cars. Ross took the lead from the start and led every lap to finish the season with a win. Foote drifted back to third in the middle of the race, behind #12x Matthew Lance. But late in the race moved back into second for the finish with Lance third. The top five finished right where they started. #63B Clayton Brown and #20x Carson Masoner finished fourth and fifth.

The Compact class wrapped up the 2024 season. Points leader #9x Samuel Moore had problems in the heat race. So everyone waited to see if he could make it back out to salvage enough points to hold onto the championship. #1/2 John Willard jumped to the lead on lap two. #5J Jeremy Sims worked his way closer and closer and flew to the outside of Willard on the frontstretch to take the lead. Within a couple lap Willard would pull off with a problem on a caution. Sims kept it hammered when the green flag came back out. He would pick up his second win and put the pressure on Moore for the championship. #14 J Dylan Bruhn had a great run finishing second. #25 Conner Rigsby has gotten faster all summer n finished third. Moore moved up seven spots to fourth and salvaged enough points. And #13 Tanner Burton finished fifth in his first appearance.

The 2024 season turned out to be a great season of racing. Good crowds and exciting racing every week. A banquetbwill be scheduled soon for the driver awards. Everyone will be invited. Discussion and plans for 2025 will take place in the next couple weeks. Keep your eyes and ears pealed for upcoming information .
