POWRi DQ's Jake Bubak as Hockett/McMillin Memorial winner after failing tire test, appeal is underway
BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Working to uphold and enforce the posted specifications and ensure full transparency with competitors, it is imperative that we announce the following penalty report.
POWRi officials have received the results of the tire samples taken on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Hockett/McMillin Memorial. Samples were collected following the feature event from the right rear tire of the top three competitors in both the POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprint League and the POWRi WAR Sprint League, and sent to an independent laboratory for further testing. The samples were taken in accordance with POWRi Tire Sample procedures, with a team representative collecting the sample cuts, which were then logged, bagged, and sealed, along with a signature from the team representative. All tires conformed to the benchmarks provided by Hoosier Racing Tire, except for one.
Jake Bubak, competing in the POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprint League feature event, has failed the tire test and has been disqualified from Saturday's feature. This disqualification results in a loss of points and pay for that event, pending the appeal process.
Bubak and his team have contested the disqualification, and the appeal is currently underway. Any further penalties will be determined upon completion of this process.
The Series rules on tires are as follows:

If any competitor is found to have altered their tires any penalty deemed appropriate by POWRi Series Officials may be issued.
