Pospisil on pole for Malvern Bank Series Finale

CORNING, Ia. — Tad Pospisil battled through two rounds of heat races and a “King of the Hill” battle to score the pole in Friday’s opening night of the Pumpkin Dash for the Malvern Bank Super Late Model Series’ final race weekend.

The half-mile Adams County Speedway is host to the final weekend of racing for the both the East and West Series. Friday served as the qualifying night for all drivers to try to make it into the first six spots for Saturday’s championship feature.

Instead of the normal time trials and one round of heat races, every driver competed in two rounds of heat races. Afterwards, the top six in points would battle in a 1-on-1, 2-lap “King of the Hill” style gauntlet race with the winner starting on the pole of Saturday’s Main Event.

The three heat races in round 1 were won by Andy and Dave Eckrich and Curtis Glover. After a break, Brian Kosiski, Justin Zeitner and JC Wyman came out and were victorious in round two.

After the points were tallied up, Tad Pospisil, JC Wyman, Bill Leighton Jr., Justin Zeitner, Andrew Kosiski, and Jake Neal were the top six to race head-to-head for the top six spots. Pospisil and Wyman were the first pair up with Pospisil taking the win.

Pospisil would go on to take on Leighton. Leighton was not able to get the run he needed to make a pass, and Pospisil advanced.

Pospisil would win again and then face Neal. Neal tried to keep the race close but did not prove to be a match for Pospisil.

The next match against Jusin Zeitner looked to be the heavyweight battle of the gauntlet, but Zeitner unfornately pulled off on the first lap leaving Pospisil to cruise to the final battle against Kosiski.

Kosiski had speed on the bottom lane, but Pospisil was too strong on the outside lane. Tad Pospisil would go undefeated in five rounds to score the pole position for the 30-lap, $6,000 to win main event to decide the West and East Series titles.

Both tours will return to action at Adams County Speedway on Saturday for the last group of heat races to set up the remainder of the feature lineup and then settle the score in the final feature.
