Marrant, Dishong score wins at Lakeside Speedway

Kansas City, Kansas — One great night to remember at Lakeside Speedway with drivers pulling their cars onto the track at Intermission to pass out candy to kids and kids at heart. Top five kids costume winners were crowned with the “Mini Flying Penguin” taking home the crown! We at Lakeside would like to thank all the drivers that participated and all the fans for being a part of the fun. As the regular season comes to and end Lakeside Speedway thanks all Drivers, Crews, Staff, Safety Crews and Fans for making it a great 2024 season. May 2025 be even bigger and better!

E-Modified would get all the great racing started as the best of the best would take to the track with fellow Atchison, KS drivers #41 Chris Dishong and #51 Corey Myers winning their perspective heat races.  Dishong would waste no time getting to the front as Zach Boyd #6X would challenge early until mechanical issues would take Boyd from the feature. Enter Myers as he would challenge Dishong every lap and pull the slider in turn four only to see Dishing do the cross over and take the lead from Myers. These two drivers would race side by side for many laps and never touch as laps diminished. Vic Tranckino #21 would show muscle early as he too would suffer issues and retire early from the feature. Colby Burge #116 was in the mix having a great feature. Dishong would see the checkers first and claim the win parking in Nextran Victory Lane with Myers second and Burge third on the night. Our 2024 Track Champion in E-Mod, Paul Carter #47 would race his way to fourth as the #61 of Jeff DeGroot would see another solid and consistent top five finish.

Pure Stock would see Chase Galvan #0 and the 20X of Don Marrs win heat races and set the stage for the feature. Ed Noll #15 would take the lead on the drop on the green and holding off the early challenges from Marrs and Joseph Smith Jr #56 as Galvan would start his march to the front of the field. Galvan would make the move on Noll taking the top spot pulling away from the rest of the field. Galvan would pick up the feature win and celebrate in Nextran Victory Lane as Ed Noll would finish second with Marrs third. Fourth and fifth place would see a great battle between Mike Taylor #6T and #15E Eddy Noll in the closing laps. Taylor would win the battle placing fourth with Rookie of the Year driver Eddy Noll rounding out the night’s top five finisher.

Chris Dishong #41, Dylan Holt #711 and Jaylen Wettengel #91J would battle and win their heat races and set their sights on the win in USRA Stock Car. On this night of competition, if Chris Dishong drove it, he would go to the front of the field as he and a fast 2024 USRA Stock Car Track Champion Wettengel would race side by side for the lead. Dishong would run the high side taking the lead early as Holt would take his turn challenging and battling a very fast #74 of Rodney Schweizer for position. Schweizer would use a late race caution to set up his move for the lead but could not get by Dishong in the closing laps. Dishong would double down on the night winning all his heat races and both features, E-Mod and USRA Stock Car on this impressive night of racing. As Dishong celebrated in Nextran Truck Center Victory Lane for a second time, Schweizer would finish second with Wettengel third. Dylan Holt would impress with a solid performance finishing fourth with the always fast and furious #54 Eddie Ingram ending the feature fifth.

USRA B-Mod would roar to the track and put on a show, as always, of epic proportions for all the fans in attendance. Heat race winners were #50C Josh McLaughlin, #57M of Aaron Marrant, and #3X3 of Nick Newton. Aaron Marrant would use a front row starting spot to get to the point early with McLaughlin challenging along with Newton honking wanting by. McLaughlin would fade slightly with Newton taking over the second spot to challenge Marrant. Sam Florence #42 was in the mix as he and Kerry Davis #68 would do battle the entire feature for position with Florence winning the battle on the last lap. The big mover of the race was #7J Jake Richards as he developed trouble in his heat race and started last in the feature. Richards and #311 John Baker would put on a show for fans racing hard and clean mid pack. As the checkers dropped, Aaron Marrant, after a four-week absence, would pick up the feature win to celebrate in Nextran Victory Lane giving Team #57 another trophy. Second would belong to a very fast Nick Newton who was in the mix for the win all feature with Sam Florence impressing racing his way to third. Fourth would go to Davis as Richards would run out of laps on his charge from the back to the front finishing fifth place on the night.
