T Hibner. Richars, Keller victorious at I-35 Speedway season finale

WINSTON, Mo. — The final night of racing at I-35 Speedway for the 2024 season brought out 110 total cars and fans ready to watch the action! There was competitive racing in every class, with a few familiar faces in victory lane as well as some new ones. We also crowned our track champions for the 2024 season tonight!
For the racing action, Tony Layne captured the feature win in the E-Mods, this was Layne’s 7th feature win this season. Tyler Hibner pulled away in the Late Model feature race to grab his 8th feature win in the late models this year. Grant Sheetz had to hold off a fast-charging JR Curtis in the Jr. Sport Compacts to secure feature win 24 for Sheetz.

Gavin Grier parked in victory lane in the Pure Stock feature race, this was Grier’s first feature win at I-35 Speedway this season.  Jake Richards used a late-race restart in the USRA B-Mods to secure feature win number 3 for Richards. Doug Keller grabbed the win in the USRA Stock Car feature after the caution came out on the final lap. This was Keller’s 5th feature win this season. Tyler Hibner couldn’t be caught in the USRA Modified’s, claiming win number 16 on the season for Hibner. And Brad Mick goes back-to-back in Sport Compacts to win his 12th feature this season.

During intermission tonight, we had the privilege of interviewing our already decided track champions for the 2024 season. Those champions included James Silkwood in the Pure Stocks, Michael King in the Midwest Limited Late Models, Tyler Hibner in the USRA Modifieds and Nic Hanes in USRA Stock Cars. These drivers accumulated enough points throughout the season to be crowned track champions before tonight's action started.

In our championships that still needed to be determined, Brad Mick secured his track championship in Sport Compacts after winning the feature race. Grant Sheetz did something very similar in Jr. Sport Compacts, winning his feature to secure the track championship. Chase Moulton came into tonight leading Mark Anderson by 73 points in USRA B-Mods. After these 2 drivers would battle for position throughout the night, Anderson would finish 13th while Moulton finished 11th and collected the track championship in USRA B-Mods. And in the wildest turn of events, Brett Holman came into tonight leading Kameron Hanes by only 1 point for the E-Mod track championship. Holman would roll his car in the heat races and have to switch rides, while Hanes dominated his heat race and earned a front row starting spot in the feature and Holman started in 17th. Hanes would then have mechanical problems on lap 1 of the feature, which would lock up the championship for Brett Holman.

Thank you to all the amazing race fans that supported I-35 Speedway throughout the entire racing season. Without the fans, we would have no racing. Thank you to the drivers for bringing your best every single night and leaving it all on track throughout the entire season. Thank you to all the safety crew, track officials and everyone else that has helped make I-35 the place to be on Saturday night. Please join us for our awards banquet next Saturday night.
