Hagar and Rains Set for Season Debut Together This Weekend
MARION, Ark. — The new partnership between Derek Hagar and A.G. Rains will make its season debut this weekend during a USCS Series doubleheader.
The No. 3 sprint car owned by Rains and driven by Hagar is slated to hit the track on Friday at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, Ala., and Saturday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss.
Hagar has a two-race winning streak at North Alabama Speedway with triumphs in 2022 and 2023.
He enters with a podium at Magnolia Motor Speedway during each of the last two years. Hagar was victorious at the track in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
"I love that race track," he said. "It's one of the nicest tracks in our area that we get to go to. The facility is nice and the track is good and racy. We look forward to going there."
The duo got off to a hot partnership at the end of last season when they swept the season finale at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark. This season, it will be a pick-and-choose schedule for Hagar and Rains.
"In my standpoint, we have a good team," Hagar said. "Life is busy right now. Work is busy. It's hard to put all the effort into it during the week so it couldn't have worked out any better. The team is based 10 minutes from the house and it takes that load off me trying to get the car ready as well as juggling my family life and work schedule. It's a heavy weight lifted off my shoulders."
Hagar's season got underway two weeks ago with car owner Paul Hart. The team tackled a pair of World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series races at Magnolia Motor Speedway, where they ended in the Last Chance Showdown both nights.
"You have to be ready when you race with the Outlaws and we had a couple of things that needed to be better," he said. "It was just a tough weekend all around."
