CAMPBELL CLAIMS VICTORY IN THRILLING 30-LAP FEATURE AT LINCOLN SPEEDWAY
ABBOTSTOWN, Pa. — Lincoln Speedway roared to life on Saturday night as an action-packed 30-lap feature unfolded before a great crowd on a beautiful spring evening. With Glenndon Forsythe and Tim Glatfelter leading the field to the green, the stage was set for an exciting showdown at the famed Pennsylvania oval.
Glatfelter got the early jump, leading the field into turn one ahead of Forsythe and Preston Lattomus. As the battle for position unfolded, Dylan Norris worked his way past Lattomus for third, with Matt Campbell following closely to take over fourth. Campbell wasted little time challenging Norris, going wheel to wheel on lap five before securing the third spot.
Lapped traffic loomed just a lap later, and Campbell capitalized on the congestion, moving into second. The race’s first caution flew on lap seven when Hayden Miller made contact with the wall in turn two. The restart saw Glatfelter continue to fend off Campbell’s advances, but Campbell was relentless, throwing a slider to take the lead on lap nine.
The action came to a halt on lap ten when Domenic Melair all but flipped in turns three and four, bringing out the red flag. Once racing resumed, Campbell pulled away while Aaron Bollinger worked his way past Glatfelter for third on lap 14. At the halfway mark, Campbell’s lead stretched to over a second as he navigated lapped traffic.
Another caution on lap 17 for a spin involving Dallas Schott and Joey Amantea erased Campbell’s advantage, but he once again pulled away on the restart. The battle for second intensified as Bollinger and Freddie Rahmer exchanged slide jobs, allowing Campbell to extend his lead. Troy Wagaman also made his presence known, surging into the top five and quickly picking off positions.
The yellow flag flew once more on lap 20 when Amantea spun in turn two. Campbell continued to hold command at the front, even after doing a wheelie on the backstretch as Bollinger closed the gap. Rahmer briefly took second with a slider in turn two, but Bollinger battled back, keeping the race for the runner-up spot alive.
With five laps to go, Campbell worked through lapped traffic flawlessly, sealing the victory in dominant fashion. Aaron Bollinger held on for second, while Freddie Rahmer, Troy Wagaman, and Brandon Rahmer rounded out the top five. Cameron Smith was the hard charger after driving from his 21st starting spot to finish sixth.
Next Saturday, April 5, Lincoln Speedway is back in action with the 410 Sprints and 358 Sprints. Racing is scheduled for 6PM with pit gates opening at 3:30PM and grandstand gates opening at 4PM.
