Karrick, Wettengel headline Lakeside Speedway opening night

Kansas City, Kansas — Lakeside Speedway would kick off 2025 with great racing on a smooth fast racing surface and familiar faces in Nextran Truck Center GMC Victory Lane. We would like to give a special thanks to Brooke Waters for honoring our Troops and America by singing our National Anthem. Seventy years of racing history and action, excitement and family fun still holds true! We would like to thank Tim Karrick, Gene Claxton, Tim Shields and Kerry Davis for presenting our State and Nations Colors during Opening Ceremonies. These Drivers have won more Track Championships in the seventy year history of Lakeside Speedway than any others.

#0 Chase Glavan from Kansas City, KS Pure Stock Feature Winner!!
Pure Stock would start the night of racing with heat winners Don Marrs #20X, Chase Galvan #0 and Terry Bivens #09 pacing the field early. Marrs would get to the point early only to see Galvan scream by and take over as Bevins would make his presence felt among the leaders. Cautions and contact would bring the race to a stop and red-flag conditions once as Landon Brown #66A would have an oil fire under the hood. Galvan would set sail and not be denied continuing his assault on the field leading as others tried to mount a challenge. As the checkers dropped on the field, Galvan would pick up the win with Marrs a close second and #7 Marshall Jewett #7 charging through the field to place an impressive third. Joseph Smith Jr #56 and Joe Sowers #61 would do battle for position with Smith fourth and Sowers claiming the fifth spot on the feature.

#51 Corey “The Intimidator” Myers from Atchison, KS E-Modified Feature Winner!
E-Modified would have a tough act to follow as heat winners #88C Colby Burge and Josh Boyd #9X would grace the front row. Burge would take the lead only to see the Silver Lake Outlaw, Boyd, move around and capture the lead with Myers in tow. Father and Son Brian Dultmeier #16 and Devin Dultmeier #8 would be in the mix for the front challenging the entire race. Corey Myers #51 would flex his muscle in turns three and four running the high side and passing Boyd for the lead. Myers would never look back nor relinquish the lead to claim victory #1 of the 2025 racing season. As Myers celebrated in Nextran Truck Center GMC Victory Lane, Josh Boyd placed second with Brian Dultmeier third. Devin Dultmeier would come to the checkers in fourth with the always fast and consistent Jeff Goepferich Sr #5J rounding out the night’s top five finishers.

Chris Dishong #16S and Jaylen Wettengel #91J would both win their perspective heat races and start on the front row for what would be the feature of the night in the closing laps. Dishong would take the early lead and appear to have conquered the lead with all others chasing as Wettengel settled into the runner-up spot. Rodney Schweizer #74 would have to start deep in the field would make a charge through the field to challenge late. Both Newmans, Jake and Jason, #222 and #111 would show strength the entire feature racing for position. Darrin Schmidt #85 would be a big mover of the feature racing his way through traffic to the front. Late race caution would bunch the field with Dishong out front and Wettengel close behind on the restart. Wettengel would use the high side, then low side as he and Dishong would swap the lead numerous times in the final laps. Wettengel and Dishong would race side by side to the line on the final lap with Wettengel winning by a mere fender at the checkers. As Wettengel and his Colony celebrated the win in Nextran Truck Center GMC Victory Lane, Dishong placed second with Schweizer third. Jason Newman would battle Darrin Schmidt to the line claiming fourth leaving Schmidt to end the feature a solid fifth.

A familiar face would rise to the top of the field in USRA B-Mod as Tim Karrick #1K would win both heat race and feature on this night of competition. Eric Spreer #214 would also win his heart race as he and Karrick would start the feature side by side on the front row. Karrick would take the lead and pull away to a commanding lead at Spreer, Kerry Davis #68, Chad Clancy #57 and Jon Sheets #8S would all give chase. B-Mods would impress by racing green to checkers caution free for their 15 lap feature. Karrick would take the win with Clancy second and Sheets third. The always fast #68 of Kerry Davis would place fourth with Mike Taylor III #6T ending the great night of racing action fifth.
