Clancy, Dishong. Jewett, Myers triumph at Lakeside Speedway
Kansas City, Kansas — Lakeside Speedway would see another night of great racing action with Lisa Jorden singing our National Anthem as Tim Gifford delivered out touching invocation. Drivers Nathan Rhodes and Josh Mclaughlin would honor our Troops and America carrying our Nations Colors.
Pure Stocks would get the night of great racing underway as John Snyder #6 and the “Blue Goose” #61 of Joe Sowers would both win heat races. At the drop of the green flag Snyder would take a commanding lead with Sowers chasing in second as the rest of the field set their sights on the front. The Mid race the big mover was Joseph Smith Jr #56 as he would challenge and take the lead from Snyder bringing Marshall Jewett #7 with him to the front. Donn Marrs #20X would put the power to the track battling side by side with Geoff Harvey #712 for position. Jewett and Smith Jr would duel for the top spot with one high on the track and the other low, swapping the lead numerous times in the closing laps. As the checkers would fall, Jewett would claim his second feature win in a row and park in Nextran Truck Center GMC Victory Lane. Smith would finish a very close second with Marrs gaining late to place a solid third on the night. Fourth would belong to the always fast Harvey with Sowers fading late to round out the night’s top five.
Setting very fast times, Josh Boyd #9X and Colby Burge#88C would win heat races setting the stage for an exciting E-Modified Feature. Burge would take the early lead only to see Boyd swing past on the outside line and take command of the feature. Contact on the first lap would see Myers get loose and make contact with Boyd leaving the #61 of Jeff DeGroot with nowhere to go and ending his night early. On the ensuing restart, Boyd would again take the point and set a fast lead for the rest to follow. Burge and Myers would do battle behind the leader until Burge would lose sheet metal from his car bringing the yellow once again to the track. Myers would take advantage of the late race caution and set his sights on Boyd and make the pass in the closing laps moving to the point. Myers would not be denied and pick up his third win in a row at Lakeside Speedway and remain perfect on the season. A happy Nextran Victory Lane awaited him as he celebrated with family and friends. Second would go to Boyd with Burge third and #79J of Jason Park racing his way to fourth. With another solid finish, “Mr Consistent” Jeff Goepferich Sr would round out the night’s top five finishers.
USRA Stock Cars never disappoint and this night of action would be no different as#16S Chris Dishong, #711 Dylan Holt and #91J of Jaylen Wettengel would all win heat races and start near the front. Dishong would use and front row starting position and perfect start to launch him to the lead with Holt and Wettengel challenging. Jake Newman #222 would charge to the front along with Shane Schmit #39K both challenging for the lead. Dishong would continue to lead with tight racing behind him with Newman running low side and Wettengel running even lower for the second position. As the smoke cleared, Dishong would park his #16S in Nextran Victory Lane with Wettengel a very close second and Jake Newman third. Fourth would belong to #42 Gene Claxton with Schmidt ending the feature a solid fifth place.
USRA B-Mods would see a stellar field of competitors take to the track with #68 Kerry Davis, #90 Terry Schultz and #57 Chad Clancy taking heat race wins. Races can be won and lost on the start and on restarts as Clancy is a master of both and would take the lead early and never relinquish. Kerry Davis #68 would be in the mix for the lead until mechanical issues forced him from the feature early. Schultz would battle Clancy early with Jon Sheets #8S also in the mix having a fast car and gaining in the closing laps. Tim Karrick #1K was a big mover as well moving from the mid pack to the front in the closing laps. Clancy would not be denied at #57 Team would celebrate in Nextran Victory Lane with Sheets placing a very close second on the night. Karrick would get by Schultz late race to finish third with Schultz fourth and #7J Jake Richards rounding out the night’s top five.
