MAQUOKETA, Iowa—Dylan Thornton kept his hot start to 2025 going during Saturday's Malvern Bank Super Late Models East Series' return to Maquoketa Speedway.

The high-banked quarter-mile at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Maquoketa, Iowa was the sight of round three of the season for the East Series. A tough field of 29 cars from Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Colorado packed the pit area for a shot at taking home a $3,000 check.

Chad Simpson topped the field in qualifying as he was the fastest in group 3 with a lap of 13.618 seconds. C J Horn was the fastest in group 1 with a 13.705 lap time while Jesse Glenz's 13.883 second lap was the fastest in group 2.

In heat racing action, Point Leader Dallon Murty, Jesse Sobbing and Justin Kay took wins and secured their spots in the feature. Murty's efforts made him the top point driver allowing him to have first choice at the Skyline Materials Lucky 6th Place Starting spot. Murty accepted the challenge to add a $400 bonus should he win the feature race.

Jake Hobscheidt and Charlie McKenna won the two Predator Custom Trailers B features, and later, 22 cars took to the speedway for the 30-lap finale.

Tim Ward started on pole, but it was outside-front-row-starter Dylan Thornton who capitalized on his starting position. The California native now residing in Iowa led the opening lap and proceeded to run away with the race.

Jesse Glenz and C J Horn battled hard for the fourth position in early to middle stages of the race, while ahead of them, Dallon Murty and Chad Simpson, the top 2 in the championship point standings, raced side-by-side for second.

After 30 uninterrupted green-flag laps, it was Thornton leading from start to finish to capture his second East Series win of the year and his third series win overall after winning at Stuart with the West Series. Thornton also became the fifth different winner in 5 races with the Malvern Bank Series at Maquoketa.

Chad Simpson took second for the third consecutive time in feature action with the East Series while Dallon Murty took third. Jesse Glenz recorded is best finish with the East Series with fourth, and C J Horn rounded out the top five.

The Memorial Day weekend swing finishes up for the East Series on Sunday with the tour's annual trip to the Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway in Dubuque, Iowa. Then, both tours are off from action until June 15th when the East Series heads north to the Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, Iowa.
