Karrick, Dishong score at Lakeside Speedway

KANSAS CITY, Kansas—Lakeside Speedway would get a night of great racing action started with Tim Gifford offering out night’s invocation and Gin Dorsey singing our National Anthem. Brian Andrews and Jason Newman would carry our Nation’s Colors honoring our Troops and America to get things started.

Pure Stock would roar to the track for their makeup feature from 05/23/2025 with a stout field of competitors ready to rock. Gavin Grier #35G would take the lead early with Don Marrs #20X in pursuit and the entire field racing for position. Joseph Smith Jr #56 along with the #46 of Tim Pruett would challenge but run out of laps as Grier would continue his blistering pace out front. Kaelob Jones #64 would be in the mix as well but Grier would not be denied. Grier, from Cameron, MO would pick up his first ever feature win at Lakeside Speedway by leading every lap of the feature and stamp an explanation point in Nextran Truck Center GMC Victory Lane. Marrs placed a solid second with Smith third. Pruett and Jones would do battle to the checkers with Pruett fourth and Jones rounding out the night’s top five finishers.

USRA Stock Car makeup feature from 05/23/2025 would see Chris Dishong #16S start from the pole position and lead every lap of the feature. Clint Hedge #105 would impress challenging Dishong and racing his way to the front. Buz Kaster in his familiar #54 would battle for position with #111 Jason Newman as #711 Dylan Holt would battle both. Dishong would pull away and never relinquish the lead claiming the makeup feature win parking in Nextran Truck Center GMC Victory Lane. Hedge would place second with Kaster third and Newman fourth. Holt would battle his way to another solid top five finish in 2025 challenging the leaders.

Pure Stock would see Rieli Yonts #8Y and Don Marrs #20X win their heat races and start on the front row of the feature. Yonts would look impressive taking the lead only to see Marrs storm by and take over the top spot. Kaelob Jones #64 and Tim Pruett #46 would have their own battle for third and fourth swapping the position several times throughout the feature. The always fast winner of two features in 2025, Marshall Jewett #7, would race his way through the field to challenge. Marrs would find the right line on the track and pick up his first Pure Stock Feature win of 2025 at Lakeside Speedway and celebrate in Nextran Truck Center GMC Victory Lane with Family and Friends. Yonts continues to impress placing second with Jones coming home in the third spot. Fourth place would belong to Pruett with Jewett ending the feature fifth place.


E-Modifieds always impress and tonight’s show would be no different with Corey Myers #51, Josh Boyd #9X and Kyle Henning #88H winning heat races and starting near the front. Henning, a hired gun in #88H, would take the lead and pull away from Myers and Boyd early. Boyd would develop mechanical trouble and leave the track as the race continued with fierce racing throughout the pack. Henning, while leading, would go through the spin in turn #2 bringing out the yellow flag and sending him to the rear of the field on the restart. Myers would inherit the lead with Jeff Goepferich Sr #5J and the fast Brian Dultmeier #16 nipping at the back bumper of Myers. Big mover was Jason Park #79J coming from the very back of the field to the front. Myers would pick up win number five of the 2025 racing season in E-Mod with Henning racing his way back to the front finishing second. As Myers celebrated the win in Nextran Truck Center GMC Victory Lane, Henning would celebrate second with Brian Dultmeier third. Fourth would belong to the always fast and consistent Goepferich with Park impressive, rounding out the night’s top five finishers.

USRA B-Modified would roar to the track with only one point separating heat winners Tim Karrick #1K and Jon Sheets #8S as they would start on the front row. Karrick and Sheets would race side by side with Kerry Davis #68 and MT3 Mike Taylor III #6T challenging for the front as well. Karrick would take the lead with Sheets challenging every inch of the way with Taylor there to challenge Sheets. John Baker #311 would mount his charge toward the front and race among the leaders as the race progressed. Karrick was the man to beat on this night of competition and see the checkers first parking in Nextran Truck Center Victory Lane. Sheets would cross the line second with Taylor a solid third. Davis would again have a good finish as he was fourth with Baker placing fifth on the night.

Action and excitement were the theme as USRA Stock Cars rolled onto the speedway with Chris Dishong #16S, Gerald Wahwahsuck #11W and Rodney Schweizer #74 all winning heat races. Wahwahsuck would get to the front first only to see Dishong and Shields roar by with Schweizer making his presence felt. Clint Hedge #105 would be up front battling until contact with turn number four wall would take him from win contention. Jason Newman #111 and Gene Claxton #42 would be big movers coming through the pack to have solid finishes on the night. Dishong would pull away from the field and claim feature win number two on the night and celebrate in Nextran Victory Lane. Second was the always fast Tim Shields #42T with Schweizer third. Newman would see fourth place with Claxton rounding out the night’s top five finishers.
