Bryce Lucius Wins First Feature of Ohio Sprint Speedweek at Millstream
FINDLEY, Ohio—The NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Valvoline drivers traveled to Findlay, Ohio, to Millstream Speedway and were greeted with sunny skies for the third scheduled stop on the Overwatch Precision Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Gill Construction. Tim Shaffer and Cale Thomas would bring the field to the green after the traditional 4-wide salute to the fans. Tim Shaffer would take the early lead over Cale Thomas and Cap Henry. After four laps into the main event, Tim Shaffer would start to see the tail end of the field and he would have to not only have to get through the cars he was lapping but was now starting to feel the pressure after Cale Thomas and Bryce Lucius would battle for second and set their sights on Shaffer. Lucius would take the lead eleven laps into the A Main. The battle was now on for the runner-up spot, and Cale Thomas and Tim Shaffer were not only battling each other, but the slower cars at the back of the pack. Cap Henry was slowly working his way to the front, and he would pass Sean Rayhall for the third-place spot and then look towards overtaking Shaffer in the runner-up spot. The caution would fly on lap twenty-three, when Danny Dietrich would spin in turn 3 and come to a stop. Dietrich would be able to rejoin the field, but it set up a dash for the end of the race to determine the winner as now the front of the field would be reset and be all together, free of any of the cars they were working on putting a lap down. Kalib Henry would visit the Saldana Oil Tanks work area under this caution to change a right rear tire, and he was able to make it back out despite not having a lot of time to work on the car, since the race was already halfway completed.
Lucius would have a flawless restart, while Shaffer would bobble and allow Cap Henry by for second place. The battle for second through fourth heated up, and that helped Lucius pull away from the field. The front of the field began to have to battle again with the back end of the pack and force the drivers to not only battle each other for position, but also the cars they were putting a lap down. Bryce made it look easy as he just kept pulling away from Henry and Shaffer, but also weaving his way around the cars he was working his way closer to winning the race. Bryce Lucius would find his way to the CK Mechanical Victory Lane and be joined by runner-up Cap Henry and third-place finisher Tim Shaffer, while Sean Rayhall and Ryan Smith were able to finish fourth and fifth.
The heat races were won by Tim Shaffer (Premier Planning Services LTD. Heat 1), Chris Andrews (All Pro Cylinder Heads Heat 2), Ryan Smith (Adaptive One Calipers Heat 3) and Zane DeVault (Bazell Race Fuels Heat 4). The Level Utilities Dash was won by Tim Shaffer. The Gates Corporation B Main was won by Howard Moore. The Hoosier Racing Tires Hard Charger was earned by Kasey Jedrzejek for moving up 8 positions. The Capital Renegades Quick Time was set by Bryce Lucius with a time of 14.114.
Next up on the schedule, the NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Valvoline will be the fourth night of the Overwatch Precision Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Gill Construction at Wayne County Speedway, paying $7,5000 to win on Monday June 16.
