Tyler Erb takes his third Summer Nationals win of 2025 at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—The Fun Tour 2.0 has reached Tyler Erb’s speed.

Using the edge of the cushion through the 30 laps at Springfield Raceway, “Terbo” earned his third Feature win of the 2025 DIRTcar Summer Nationals Late Models tour against his familiar foes in national dirt Late Model competition.

The reigning champion began the night with a win in Heat 3, then drew a front row spot alongside Brandon, FL’s Kyle Bronson for the Feature at the 1/4-mile Missouri track.

Bronson took the top spot on the opening lap while Erb rode behind him in second place with Mark Whitener following in tow.

On Lap 6, Whitener used his momentum from following Erb to throw his car to the bottom of Turns 1-2 and slide by the Best Performance Motorsports No. 1 for second place.

The New Waverly, TX driver did not let the pass hurt his chances to win by retaking the silver medal spot from the cushion, while Whitener’s No. 5 Late Model attempted to maintain position by running the bottom lane. Erb’s pace prevailed as he retook second place on Lap 10 before the caution waved on the following lap that erased Bronson’s 2.3-second lead.

On the restart, Bronson’s No. 40B Longhorn Chassis held onto the lead while Erb got clear of Whitener, then used his momentum to glue his Rocket Chassis to the top of the track for the lead on Lap 13.

Erb maintained his lead with a one-second gap over Bronson until the final caution on Lap 25 for Jason Feger’s right rear tire going flat shook up the points standings and the Feature’s top five.

Under the caution period, Bronson and Dillon McCowan suffered flat tires, which gave way for new challengers in the form of 2023 Hell Tour champion Ashton Winger (second place), 2013 champ Brandon Sheppard (third place), and World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Models presented by DIRTVision rookie Ethan Dotson (fourth place).

Erb held a half-second bubble on Winger with his top-side advantage as the field took the final green flag of the Feature, while Sheppard attempted to ride the bottom lane towards the lead.

As Erb took his 18th checkered flag, he overtook both Kevin Weaver for 11th on the all-time wins list and Jason Feger for the overall points lead by six markers.

“Kyle fired off really good,” Erb said. “The middle-top took a minute to kinda get cleaned off to where you could run up there 'cause I just felt like I was gonna annihilate my tires there at the beginning doing it. The first restart, Mark was able to get by me. I just told myself, ‘Well, I don't need to pick the bottom again, that's no good,’ and it just worked out.”

Up Next: The DIRTcar Summer Nationals Late Models and DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals team up at Tri-City Speedway on Wednesday night, June 25.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch all the action live on DIRTVision – either online or by downloading the DIRTVision App.
