WHEATLAND, MO.—One of the biggest stars in motorsports is set to make his first laps at Lucas Oil Speedway on Thursday night as Kyle Larson participates in the opener of the 2nd annual Kubota High Limit Racing Diamond Classic.

Larson, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Champion who pulled off the Indy 500/Coca-Cola 600 double last month, will be racing only on Thursday which is part of the Roto-Rooter Midweek Series. Action continues on Friday and Saturday for the series' regular "High Rollers" and other regional invaders looking to take them on.

An accomplished open-wheel driver since his early days in the sport, the 32-year-old Larson and brother-in-law Brad Sweet own the 410 winged sprint car national series. The circuit hosts 60 events in 20 states across the United States this year and will pay out nearly $6 million in prize money.

Sweet, of Grass Valley, Calif., leads a closely contested championship chase as the series returns for the Diamond Classic. Here is a closer look at the top five drivers in the championship chase heading into the three-day Diamond Classic:

Brad Sweet: The 39-year-old has an impressive resume of open-wheel racing going back more than two decades. Sweet won the championship in 2024. Nicknamed “The Big Cat,” Sweet cemented his spot as one of the best in Sprint Car racing history with four consecutive World of Outlaws championships, driving for Kasey Kahne Racing.

Tyler Courtney: The Indianapolis resident captured the first Kubota High Limit Racing feature victory at Lucas Oil Speedway last June, driving for Clauson-Marshall Racing. “Sunshine” he started ninth and went from third-to-first on lap 24 of last year’s opener at Wheatland to win the $10,000 prize. The 31-year-old is a two-time All Star champion, as well as a multi-time USAC champ.

Aaron Reutzel: Hailing from Clute, Texas, the 35-year-old has four Kubota High Limit Racing feature wins over the last two seasons, including a trio of victories on the tour in 2025. His biggest triumph came May 25th at Port Royal Speedway when he cashed $100,000 at the Bob Weikert Memorial. Reuther is a former ASCS champion and is in his third full season with Ridge & Sons Racing.

Rico Abreu: One of the most-popular drivers in open-wheel racing, Abreu has a series-leading five High Limit Racing feature wins this season and sits just 30 points behind Sweet for the series lead. In 2024, the St. Helens, Calif., driver won eight High Limit Series features and wound up third in the championship chase. The 33-year-old, who also has driven in the NASCAR Truck Series won won the 2015 Chili Bowl, holds the Lucas Oil Speedway track record with a lap of 12.829 set on June 29, 2024.

Brent Marks: The Murray-Marks Motorsports driver is fifth in the points championship chase, just 35 behind Sweet. The Myerstown, Pa., driver has picked up two High Limit Series wins this season. The 34-year-old, nicknamed the “Myerstown Missile,” wound up fourth in the series in 2024 with three feature wins, none bigger than Oct. 12’s $50,000 season finale at Texas Motor Speedway.

Three-day and two-day packages, as well as single-day tickets, are available for purchase online. Lucas Oil Speedway also offers Family Passes, Senior and Military pricing. Single-day or multi-day pit passes can be purchased at both the ticket and pit offices at the track. Ticket prices increase by $5 when purchased on-site.
