WHEATLAND, MO.—The stars of Dirt Late Model racing return to Lucas Oil Speedway this week for the 19th annual CMH Diamond Nationals Presented by Wieland and the mid-summer Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event has been expanded to two nights.
Action is set for Friday and Saturday with winners of the Late Model features collecting $15,000 on Friday and $25,000 on Saturday. A red-hot championship battle between Ricky Thornton Jr. and Jonathan Davenport continues as Thonton holds a 20-point lead.
Davenport looks to close in at one of his favorite tracks. The 2024 Show-Me 100 winner is a four-time Diamond Nationals champ with eight feature wins at Lucas Oil Speedway since the spring of 2023. He finished second at the 2025 Show-Me 100 Presented by Missouri Division of Tourism.
Devin Moran and Hudson O'Neal are third and fourth in points, 260 and 320 points behind Thornton. O'Neal is a driver to watch at winning both nights of the Spring Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway on April 11-12 and sweeping the preliminary features for the Show-Me 100 May 22-23 before finishing third in the Show-Me.
O'Neal is coming off a LOLMDS feature win on Saturday at Muskingum County Speedway in Ohio.
Along with the star-studded field of series regulars, a strong contingent of regional and local drivers will be on hand. Included is Payton Looney of Republic, the 2020 Show-Me 100 winner who's had a limited schedule in recent years.
