Two County Fair Stops for Mohrfeld Solar Sprint Invaders This Week
TIPTON, Iowa—The Mohrfeld Solar Sprint Invaders busy week continues this Thursday and Friday nights, at two County Fair venues. On Thursday, July 10, they head to the Cedar County Speedway and the Cedar County Fair in Tipton, Iowa. On Friday, July 11, they travel south to the Lee County Speedway and Lee County Fair in Donnellson, Iowa.
It has been seven years since the Sprint Invaders have battled on the quarter-mile in Tipton. Terry McCarl was the winner there in 2018, and he returns Thursday as the series’ point leader. McCarl owns two career wins at Cedar County. Kaley Gharst, Ryan Jamison and Bobby Mincer are also two-time winners there. Jack Dover, John Schulz, Chris Martin and Bill Balog also hold wins in Tipton with the Sprint Invaders.
Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Admission is FREE with your admission to the Cedar County Fair! $2,200 to win IMCA Modifieds, the American Iron Racing Series (A.I.R.S.), Midwest Jalopies and a Sheriff’s Race are also on the card.
Friday’s event at Lee County marks the 53rd visit for the series. Gharst leads the all-time win list there with 6, followed by John Schulz (5), four-time winners Matt Sutton and McCarl, three-time winners Randy Martin and Jeff Mitrisin and two-time victors Jesse Giannetto, Russ Hall, Jerrod Hull, Paul Nienhiser and Josh Schneiderman.
Hot laps are scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. Admission prices are $20 for adults, $10 for youth 4-12, and three and under are FREE. Stock cars, Sport Mods and Sport Compacts are also scheduled.
McCarl’s lead in the standings is 22 points over Tasker Phillips. Nienhiser is third, ahead of Cody Wehrle and Colton Fisher. McCain Richards, Riley Scott, Josh Schneiderman, Tanner Gebhardt and Nathan Murders round out the current top ten.
