CALIFORNIA, Mo.—A warm but beautiful evening and a full grandstand set the stage for a heartfelt and high-energy night of racing at Double X Speedway, as fans and race teams gathered to honor the memory of two beloved members of our racing family — Riley and Dylan — during the annual "Race for Riley and Dylan" Memorial event. Though their time with us was tragically short, their spirit and love for the sport continues to shine brightly through the families, friends, and fans who return each year to celebrate their lives with horsepower and heart.
More than just a race night, the event was a celebration of community. Children in attendance were treated to special prize drawings and exciting bicycle giveaways, bringing smiles and memories to young fans just as Riley and Dylan would have enjoyed. The generosity of sponsors and supporters also meant added prize money for the evening’s competitors, making each division’s battle for victory lane even more thrilling.
From the opening heat races to the final checkered flag, the action on the track did not disappoint. With 360 Winged Sprint Cars, Super Stocks, and B Modifieds all on the card, fans were treated to high-speed thrills and tight competition throughout the evening.
With Riley and Dylan both coming from Stock Car racing families, it is only fitting that the Super Stocks are the featured class at this event. The first heat was stacked full of weekly regulars and out travelling stars in the Super Stock division. Derek Henson moved into the lead from his fourth starting position only to surrender it back to Jody Romig on lap six. Romig would win by a bumper over Henson as they crossed the line door to door. Dean Willie, Eddie Keeran and Blaine Ewing completed the top five. The second heat saw Terry Schultz victorious over Tony Anglin in second, Harlan Dowell in third, James Niswonger on fourth and Chris Spalding in fifth. In the third heat it was Darin Porter taking the win over Jeremy Russell. Steve Beach claimed third, Dale Berry fourth and Walker Allen in fifth.
360 Winged Sprint Cars Recap: Heat race number one saw Tyler Blank move out from his outside row one starting position into the lead with Taylor Walton in second and Jack Wagner quickly moving into third. The running order would remain unchanged with Bank, Walton and Jack Wagner 1,2,3, Blake Bowers was fourth and Jaden Alexander completed the field. Randy Martin was unable to take the green due to Mechanical issues. Heat race number two had Tom Curran and Daryn Langford on the front row. Curran would lead the opening laps before Ben Brown would move to the point from fifth bringing Samuel Wagner along in second. Wagner would challenge but Brown would prove to have the edge and took the win, Wagner was second, Curran third, Emylee Yoder fourth and Langford fifth.
B Modified Recap: Heat race one saw Don Williams take the early lead and hold off Chad Staus to claim the victory. Tyler Imhoff, Tristan Staus and Darren Sloan completed the field. Heat race number two was all Tyler Potter at the point. Following Potter across the line was the real excitement as Tyler Crocker came from fourth to take second by a bumper at the line over Joshua Ready, Adam Hall and Justin Hawkins.
An inverted Dash for Cash was contested in each division with two dashes in the Super Stock Class. In the B Modifieds it was Adam Hall claiming the victor’s share over Joshua Ready and Chad Staus. Super Stock Dash One, “The Fast Six” saw Tony Anglin take the win over Jeremy Russell and Terry Schultz. The second dash for the “Not So Fast Six” Michael Muskrat moved from fourth to victory lane over Ryan Shikles and Denny Fitzpatrick. In the 360 Winged Sprint Dash, Jack Wagner moved to the point and set sail over the field to take the win. Samuel Wagner was second and Tyler Blank third.
The last race before intermission was the Super Stock B Main with the top four finishers moving to the Feature event. Michael Muskrat was the winner over Chris Spalding in second, Ryan Shikles in third and Walker Allen in fourth. Dusty See was fifth, John Shane sixth, Denny Fitzpatrick in seventh and Darek Wiss in eighth.
The B Modified Feature was the Tyler Potter Show as the Fulton, MO Ace led green to checker. Surviving a couple of restarts due to caution flags, Potter was never challenged in the 15 lap event. Joshua Ready finished a solid second, Adam Hall was third, Chad Staus fourth and Tyler Crocker fifth.
The Super Stock Feature was full of racing throughout the field. Terry Schultz doubled up on the weekend winning for his second night in a row in the Super Stock class. Following Schultz under the checkered was Dean Willie in second, Jeremy Russell in third and hard charging Tony Anglin in fourth after having to start at the tail due to having to resort to his back up car for the feature. Michael Muskrat completed the top five. Jody Romig was sixth, Steve Beach seventh, Harlan Dowell eighth, Chris Spalding ninth and Dale Berry finished tenth.
When the 360 Winged Sprint Car feature hit the track all eyes were on the two most successful driver at Double X recently, Tyler Blank and Jack Wagner. Blank took the lead at the outset and Jack Wagner was on the move from inside row 3. Wagner had moved into second at the midway point and began to reel in the leader. On the last lap Wagner knew a slider was his best chance and it was successful but Blank was able to turn down the track and win the drag race from turn four to the checkered flag. Following Blank and Jack Wagner across the line was Samuel Wagner in third, Tom Curran and fourth and Jaden Alexander in fifth. Daryn Langford was sixth, Blake Bowers seventh and Emylee Yoder eighth.
As the sun sets on another unforgettable night at the track, the spirit of Riley and Dylan lives on in the sound of engines, the laughter of children, and the roar of the crowd. Double X Speedway thanks all the fans, families, and race teams who continue to make this night one of the most special on the calendar.
