CALIFORNIA, Mo.—A season’s worth of thrills, battles, and unforgettable moments came to a close on Sunday night as Double X Speedway hosted the final event of the 2025 racing season. Drivers, teams, and fans came to the historic dirt oval for one last round of "Sunday Night Thunder," with championships on the line in all three divisions: 360 Winged Sprint Cars, Super Stocks, and B Modifieds.
A beautiful evening and an enthusiastic fan base set the perfect backdrop for a night full of excitement and emotion, as competitors gave it their all in the pursuit of victory and season-long glory.
Super Stocks- Heat race one was a race among veterans with Steve Beach and Dale Berry racing hard for the lead with Berry gaining the advantage leaving Beach to have to handle the challenges of James Niswonger. At the checkered it was Berry, Beach, Niswonger, John Shane and Adam Halley. Heat two saw point leader Jody Romig move to the point and hold a commanding lead over Darin Porter, Ryan Shikles and Darek Wiss. Porter closed the gap and made a charge on the last lap but was edged by Romig at the stripe by a nose. Following Romig and Porter were Shikles in third and Wiss in fourth.
The final feature for 2025 saw Dale Berry on the pole with point leader Jody Romig outside row one. With strong competitors like Steve Beach, Darin Porter and James Niswonger lined up behind them, the race could shape up to be a great one. Dale Berry used the low groove to take the lead and opened a three-car length advantage by lap five. On lap six Berry went to the high line and Romig went to the bottom which allowed Niswonger and Porter to close on the leaders. Niswonger used some aggressive moves to move into second on lap ten. Berry was able to maintain his advantage and take home the win. Niswonger would finish second with Romig in third by a bumper over Darin Porter in fourth, Steve Beach would complete the top five.
B Modifieds- Two heat races were contested in the B Modified class. In heat one Adam Hall won a close one over Tyler Potter, Chad Staus was third, Joshua Ready fourth and Justin Hawkins was fifth. In heat two Tyler Crocker was victorious over Parker Smith in second, Tyler Imhoff in third, Jeff Duncan was fourth and Tristan Staus was fifth.
When the green flag dropped on the B Modified Feature it was Adam Hall taking control early. The second generation modified driver opened a comfortable lead but the comfort disappeared as Tyler Potter began eating into the advantage. A yellow on lap nine would bunch the field on the leader’s rear bumper but Hall was unfazed. On the restart he ran the same smooth laps as before the caution. Potter would close up to the leader but could not complete the pass. Behind the lead duo the rest of the field was settled into the running order. At the finish Adam Hall would claim the win with Tyler Potter in second, Tyler Crocker was third, Parker Smith fourth and Chad Staus completed the top five.
360 Winged Sprint Cars- In the first heat race, California, MO veteran Randy Martin took the victory over a hard charging Samuel Wagner in second. Daryn Langford was third, Taylor Walton fourth, Blake Bowers fifth and Jaden Alexander in sixth. The second heat race saw Jack Wagner claiming the win over Ben Brown. Tom Curran finished third, Kory Bales fourth and Emylee Yoder fifth.
The crowd was excited for the final 360 Winged Sprint Car feature of 2025 with local veteran Randy Martin on the pole and Gentleman Jack Wagner outside of him. Wagner moved out to the lead on the backstretch and settled into running the high groove. Ben Brown quickly advanced to the second position with Samuel Wagner working his way into third and Martin settling into the number four position. A red flag on lap ten for the #93 on Taylor Walton taking a mild tumble in turn one reset the field behind Jack Wagner’s #77. After the restart a short, two lap run saw no changes in the running order as Kory Bales spun in turn two. Little change came until lap 17 when Samuel Wagner would take over the number two spot as Ben Brown would struggle in turns one and two. The race would stay green until lap 23 when the red flag waved for a tumble in turn four of the 32D of Daryn Langford. Emylee Yoder and Tom Curran were also involved in the incident. With three laps remaining, the field was tight on the rear bumper of Jack Wagner. With brother Samuel in second, Ben Brown in third and Randy Martin in fourth the race would come down to the wire. The last three laps saw the running order finish out unchanged as no one had anything for Jack Wagner. He closed out 2025 at Double X with the feature win, Samuel Wagner was second, Ben Brown third, Randy Martin fourth and Jaden Alexander fifth.
