DESHLER, Neb.—Tad Pospisil found victory lane in decisive fashion in the Malvern Bank Super Late Model Racing Series’ return to the Thayer County Speedway for the track’s Friday night county fair race.

The semi-banked 3/8-mile track at the Thayer County Fairgrounds was the next sight of the West Series tour. It was the tour’s fifth time visiting the speedway, all of which have been during the fair races. A field of 24 cars from Nebraska and Iowa packed the backstretch pit area on a hot Friday night for the 2025 Thayer County Fair.

Point Leader Jesse Sobbing began the night setting the overall fastest lap in Keyser Manufacturing Qualifying. The Malvern, Iowa driver stopped the clock at 16.317 seconds to lead the third group of qualifiers. Brian Kosiski topped the second group with a lap of 16.860 seconds. Dylan Sillman would lead the first group as the Alvo, Nebraska driver clocked in at 16.912 seconds.

Later in the evening, Braxton Leonard, who made his second ever start with the Malvern Bank Series, won the opening heat race while Kyle Berck and Tad Pospisil took heats 2 and 3. After Alex Humphrey won the Predator Custom Trailers B Feature, the field returned to finish out the night with the 30-lap Malvern Bank Main Event.

Pole Sitter Charlie McKenna took the lead and held if for the first two laps before Tad Pospisil took command as the two came off of turn two. From that point on, Pospisil proceeded to run away and hide.

As the race progressed, Pospisil led while a multiple of battles were waged through the top ten. Kyle Berck, Dylan Thornton, McKenna, Dylan Sillman, and Jesse Sobbing all exchanged positions throughout the middle of the race.

After 30 caution-free laps, Tad Pospisil duplicated his result from one year ago in Deshler picking up the $3,000 win making him the only repeat winner at the Thayer County Speedway. It was also Pospisil’s second consecutive win on the year after his triumph at Off-Road Speedway the week before. The Deshler win also marked the 47th Malvern Bank Series victory in Pospisil’s career, which is second on the all-time wins list.

As an added bonus, with his win, and with Jesse Sobbing finishing sixth, Pospisil took over the West Series Championship point lead by a mere 2 points after being behind by 10 to start the night.

Dylan Thornton took second in the main event while Kyle Berck finished third. Dylan Sillman and Charlie McKenna rounded out the top five. Jake Neal was the biggest mover on the night charging from 23rd to finish in 14th.

A big tripleheader is next on tap for the West Series. It begins at the Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson, South Dakota on August 15th. It will be the series’ first visit to the speedway since it was resized to a 1/3-mile from its previous 4/10-mile configuration. The second race will be the West Series’ return to the Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa. Then, the series will finish out the weekend of racing on Sunday with a trip to the U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus, Nebraska.
