OSBORN, Mo.—The 3rd Annual Greg Querry Celebration was a success for the 3rd straight year. Good crowd, good car count and great racing.
Emod started off the features. #54L Coleman Browning has the sweet spot on his, new to him, Emod the last couple weeks. Browning started outside front row, shot to the lead, then went on to lead every lap in picking up his first Greg Querry Celebration win. #14H Blake Hayes has been tough to beat, but it took a couple laps before he took over second place. By then, Browning was out to far to catch. #37 PJ Conger made a return to US 36 and finished third. #14 Jayden Bears was 4th with #24B Braxton Gibson 5th.
The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars were on hand. #43 Jake Greeneood picked up the win from his second row starting spot. #17x Jake Martrns has made his second appearance and finished 2nd with #25 Gunner Pike 3rd. #20D Jacob Dye came on strong at the end and finished 4th and #9 Laney Moore 5th.
Third up was the Bmod class. A couple hot shoes from south pulled in the pits, but the weekly drivers held there composure with very little movement in the top 5. #12c Stephan Clancy lead every lap to pick up the win. #8S Jon Sheets finished 2nd. 3rd thru 5th finished in the same spot they started. They were #42 Sam Florence, #345 Jimmy Downs and #12x Chris Wright.
Stock Cars usually close out the night but weren't the last feature on this night. #20x Mich Ross, driving the car Jon Boller has driven this year started on the pole, took the lead, led every lap, and won. The rest of the top five had to work their way up. 2nd was #37D Brad Derry, who started 5th. #7 Shaybe Bailey start beside Derry and gained as many spots to finish 3rd. #12 Matthew Lance ran just outside the top five until halfway when he got a flat. Lance got the tire changed n back out to restart at the back. Quickly worked his way back up to 7th, then to 4th by the checkered. 5th place was the same kind of story. #99 7 Jason Estes started 17th. Cracked into the top 8 and got a flat tire. Changed it. Restarted at the back. And drove it back up to finish 5th.
The Pure Stock capped off the night for the Greg Querry Celebration $1000 to win. What looked like a carbon copy of the Stock Cars, Mich Ross started on the pole and picked up the win driving the #55t for Calvin Teel. But it was different between the beginning and the end. #15E Young driver Eddy Noll pulled the field for 99% of the feature. Ross would keep the pressure on but Noll would flex his strength every time. Both drivers entered turn three coming to the checkered. But this time a slight adjustment by one of them ended with Ross getting a run down the hill n just nipping Noll by 0.021, yes 21 thousandth of a second at the line. #11j Jake Starmer started and finished 3rd. And #49K Conrad Kaufman started and finished 4th. #15 Ed Noll drove forward six spots to finish 5th.
Pure Stock also had a special trophy dash for some drivers who have never won a feature. #25 Kahne Crockett picked up that win.
US 36 Raceway is not racing this Friday, August 23nd, due to the 2 day show at the drag strip in memory of Mike Franks.
Next race will be Friday August 29th on Labor Day weekend.
