Adding “Good points night, I’m very blessed to be a part of this great team that makes this possible, we have momentum on our side right now”.
Contesting closely behind would find Kameron Key placing on the final podium placement from the starting fourth on the initial green flag. WYATT BURKS PREVAILS IN POWRi WAR/MWRA WEEKEND OPENER AT LAKE OZARK SPEEDWAY
ELSON, Mo. -- Wyatt Burks would use precision on a restart to nab victory in Night One of the 8th Annual Non-Wing Nationals presented by Start2Finish TV at Lake Ozark Speedway, featuring the Wholesale Batteries POWRi WAR/MWRA Challenge Series, running in conjunction with the Western Iowa Non-Wing Sprints, to notch his eleventh career feature victory by leading twelve laps on the way to the checkers.
Clashing at ‘The Lake’, POWRi WAR/MWRA would find twenty talented traditional sprinters witnessing Wesley Smith set the quickest qualifying hot-lap time of 13.828-second lap as Dakota Earls, Jack Wagner, and Justin Johnson each earned heat racing victories.
Kick-starting the initial green flag start with high-point qualifier Dakota Earls and Jack Wagner lined up in the front row, Jack Wagner would gain the lead on the opening seven laps with the field forming for positions behind the pace setter.
Overtaking for the top spot briefly, Samuel Wagner would hold the front of the field for a single lap as action aplenty ensued behind the leader with Wyatt Burks, Jack Wagner, Anthony Nicholson, and Wesley Smith running inside the top five around the mid point of the feature.
Cruising into the lead using a perfect restart, tenth-starting Wyatt Burks would emerge victorious with the POWRi WAR/MWRA to notch his first yearly league victory. Staying in the hunt, Wesley Smith would finish runner-up from starting ninth as early leader Jack Wagner completed the final podium placements.
“I threw a hail-marry slider on that restart, with Jack and Samuel going at it for the lead, I knew it was really the only shot I had for the lead,” said Wyatt Burks in the Lake Ozark Speedway victory lane. Adding “I haven’t won a WAR race in a while, so this feels pretty special. Hopefully, we can pull it off again tomorrow. ”
Challenging closely behind would find hard-charger Samuel Wagner finish fourth from starting sixteenth as Tom Curran rounded out the top-five finishers for the Wholesale Batteries Inc. POWRi WAR/MWRA Challenge Series at Lake Ozark Speedway in Night One of the 8th Annual Non-Wing Nationals presented by Start2Finish TV.

TREVOR HUGHES WINS JASON RUSSELL MEMORIAL FOR HEARLTNAD MODIFIED TOUR
By HMT PR
ELDON, Mo. -- The USRA Heartland Modified Tour made its debut at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri on Saturday night, joining the Jason Russell Memorial for the first time to honor the late Missouri racer. Trevor Hughes of Salina, Oklahoma rose to the occasion, dominating the 32-lap main event for his first career HMT victory and the biggest win of his 2025 season to date.
Hughes, who set quick time in Deatherage Opticians qualifying earlier in the night, backed it up with a flag-to-flag drive in the Wehrs Machine A Feature. The Salina, Okla. racer handled a tricky surface where the bottom groove was preferred, but competitors searching for grip in the middle lane kept the racing action intense throughout the field.
Heat race wins went to Hughes, Bobby Williams, Ryan Middaugh, and Shadren Turner, setting the stage for a feature lineup packed with contenders. From the drop of the green, Hughes controlled the pace while Williams and Turner traded blows in the battle for second. That fight opened the door for Tyler Davis, who stormed forward from 13th starting spot and used a late restart to steal third. At the finish, Hughes pocketed the $3,002 payday ahead of Williams, Davis, Turner, and Treyton Gann.
Davis’ drive from 13th to third was one of the highlights of the night, but the official Hard Charger Award went to Dean Wille, who advanced from 24th to finish 10th.
The Jason Russell Memorial was part of a packed Saturday program at Lake Ozark Speedway. The POWRi Honest Abe Roofing 410 Outlaw Sprints saw Joe B. Miller grab the victory, Wyatt Burks topped the Wholesale Batteries, Inc. POWRi WAR/Midwest Wingless Racing Association Challenge Series feature, and Waylon Dimmitt claimed the B-Mod main event win.
The Labor Day weekend doubleheader concludes tonight, Sunday, August 31, with the USRA Heartland Modified Tour, the POWRi Honest Abe Roofing 410 Outlaw Sprints, and the Wholesale Batteries, Inc. POWRi WAR/Midwest Wingless Racing Association Challenge Series all returning to action at Lake Ozark Speedway.
