ELDON, Mo.—Austin McCarl would show speed all night with the POWRi Honest Abe Roofing 410 Outlaw Sprint League in Night Two of SprintMania presented by Start2Finish TV to notch his first seasonal league victory and earn the hard-fought feature victory at Lake Ozark Speedway.

Setting sail onto the smooth surfaces of Lake Ozark Speedway with thirty talented entrants of the POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprints would see Austin McCarl set a quick qualifying time of 12.052-second lap with Xavier Doney, Chase Porter, Ayrton Gennetten, and Scotty Thiel each earning heat racing victories with Joe B Miller attaining the semi-feature victory.

Pleasing the crowd in Eldon on the initial green flag start, with high-point qualifier Hank Davis and Xavier Doney lined up in the front row, as Hank Davis would gain the lead on the opening lap, with Xavier Doney taking the lead for a single lap.

Taking the top spot around the mid-point of the feature, Austin McCarl and Hank Davis would battle furiously, with McCarl gaining the preferred line as Scotty Thiel briefly held the top spot before Austin McCarl found speed on the top side late.

Leading the final eight laps, Austin McCarl would not be denied in earning his second career POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprint victory in an action-packed main event, with Scotty Thiel hustling into the runner-up position late by utilizing a choose-cone restart to perfection.

“The track was changing the whole night, so it was tough to stay on top of everything,” said Austin McCarl in the victory lane ceremony celebrations. Adding “I had to get it cooking up on the cushion and get up on the wheel with it being so treacherous on the curb.”

Opposing closely behind would find the early leader of fifteen laps, Hank Davis, placing on the final podium spot. Chris Martin would be among the frontrunners late to battle to fourth from starting twelfth as hard-charger Scotty Milan would move forward fifteen positions to round out the top-five finishers for the POWRi Honest Abe Roofing 410 Outlaw Sprint League in Night Two of SprintMania presented by Start2Finish TV at Lake Ozark Speedway.

WESLEY SMITH SHINES IN POWRi/MWRA NON-WING SPRINTS AT LAKE OZARK SPEEDWAY

ELDON, Mo. -- Wesley Smith would lead all twenty laps in Night Two of the 8th Annual Non-Wing Nationals presented by Start2Finish TV at Lake Ozark Speedway, featuring the Wholesale Batteries POWRi WAR/MWRA Challenge Series, running in conjunction with the Western Iowa Non-Wing Sprints, to notch his league-leading eighteenth career feature victory.

Clashing at ‘The Lake’, POWRi WAR/MWRA would find twenty talented traditional sprinters witnessing Wesley Smith set the quickest qualifying hot-lap time of 14.006-second lap as Tom Curran, Wesley Smith, and Jack Wagner each earned heat racing victories.

Kick-starting the initial green flag start with high-point qualifier Wesley Smith and Jack Wagner lined up in the front row, Wesley Smith would gain the lead on the opening lap with Jack Wagner blasting into the runner-up spot, contending for the lead early.

Cruising to a commanding lead, Wesley Smith would emerge victorious with the POWRi WAR/MWRA to notch his third yearly league victory. Staying in the hunt, Samuel Wager would finish runner-up as Wyatt Burks completed the final podium placements.

“That last caution may have saved the race for me. I may have been getting too comfortable or too lazy with this track being super technical. Once I learned to settle down and slow down to go fast,” said Wesley Smith in the Lake Ozark Speedway victory lane. Adding “The cushion was tricky tonight, I think this is just a testament to just how good our program is right now with the competition level we have around here.”

Challenging closely behind would find Anthony Nicholson finish fourth as Tom Curran rounded out the top-five finishers for the Wholesale Batteries Inc. POWRi WAR/MWRA Challenge Series at Lake Ozark Speedway in Night Two of the 8th Annual Non-Wing Nationals presented by Start2Finish TV.

SHADREN TURNER TAME LAKE OZARK SPEEDWAY IN HEARTLAND MODIFIED TOUR WEEKEND FINALE

By HMT PR

ELDON, Mo. -- After opening the season’s first three races with a pair of runner-up finishes at Humboldt and a victory at I-35, it looked like all systems were go for Shadren Turner’s rookie campaign on the Heartland Modified Tour. But a string of bad luck and mechanical woes through the early summer left the team searching for answers and wondering what if. They broke through with a July 4th win at Central Missouri Speedway, and on Sunday night Turner showed there are no more doubts, leading all 30 laps at Lake Ozark Speedway to secure his third win of the season.

Turner was in control from the drop of the green, but it wasn’t without challenges. Bobby Williams applied pressure multiple times through the middle stages of the feature, but could never find a way past. A late-race restart shook things up as Trevor Hughes slipped by Williams to claim the runner-up spot, while Williams settled for third.

Championship contenders Brandon Givens and Wyatt Gaggero both kept their title hopes alive, finishing fourth and fifth respectively. The preferred groove around the Eldon, Missouri oval was on the bottom, but both Lance Mari and Tyler Davis thrilled the crowd by charging forward against a treacherous cushion on the extreme top side. Mari was closing on a top-three finish before mechanical issues ended his run with two laps to go, while Davis hung tough up high and nearly broke into the top five before crossing the line in eighth.

Austin McCarl won the POWRi Honest Abe Roofing 410 Outlaw Sprints feature ahead of Scotty Thiel in second and Hank Davis in third, while Joe B. Miller finished fourth and Ayrton Gennetten completed the top five. In the Wholesale Batteries, Inc. POWRi WAR/Midwest Wingless Racing Association Challenge Series main event, Wesley Smith took the win with Samuel Wagner in second and Wyatt Burks in third, followed by Jack Wagner in fourth and Riley Kreisel in fifth.

With just four races remaining, the Heartland Modified Tour championship battle remains tightly contested. Bobby Williams continues to lead the standings, with Brandon Givens and Wyatt Gaggero within striking distance, while Turner’s third victory of the season has vaulted him back into the mix.

Up next: The Heartland Modified Tour makes its way to Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS, on Friday, September 19, followed the very next night by the Dalice Franz Memorial at 81 Speedway near Wichita, KS.
