SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—Capitalizing, when leader Logan Martin jumped the cushion on the 24th circuit, Dillon McCowan took the lead en route to the $6,064 COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) victory in the Rex McCroskey Memorial at Springfield Raceway.
McCowan crossed the finish line 0.810 seconds ahead of seventh-starting Terry Phillips.
“I can’t say enough about the racetrack, all I’ve heard is how it peels apart. If you can’t take a look at this thing and think it ain’t one of the best tracks in the country, you’re kidding yourself,” McCowan said in Victory Lane. “I knew once Logan (Martin) got out there in front, he’d be hard to beat, he’s really good here. Obviously, everybody knows Clay (Stuckey) is really good here, we’ve had some hellacious battles.”
From the NewVisionCustomShirts.com Pole Position, Clay Stuckey, led the first four circuits with Logan Martin racing to the lead on lap 5. Martin paced the field until the turn 4 cushion bit him on the 24th circuit. McCowan pounced to the lead, while Martin ultimately faded to finish 11th.
At the finish line it was McCowan claiming his second-career series win with Phillips, Clay Stuckey, Daniel Adam, and Billy Moyer completing the Top-5 finishers.
Kyle Beard was the MD3 Performance Bodies Hard Chargers after motoring forward 12 positions to finish seventh in the main event.
The CCSDS rolls into Revolution Park (Monroe, La.) on Sept. 12 -13 for a doubleheader weekend, which includes back-to-back $5,000 events.
