BOONE, Iowa—Tim Ward raced his way to victory in Friesen Performance IMCA Modified Qualifier 1 Wednesday at Boone Speedway during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The 25-lap contest locked the top four finishers into the inside row of Saturday’s Big Dance.
Wyoming’s Bryson Yeager jumped to the front on the opening circuit, with Ward — the 2023 Super Nationals champion and Saturday’s Prelude winner — close behind. The two battled through heavy lapped traffic by lap eight, with Ward using a slower car as a pick to wrestle the lead away on lap 13. Two late cautions gave Ward, originally from Mesa, Ariz., and now calling Harcourt, Iowa home, clear track to race to the checkers.
Two-time Sunoco IMCA Stock Car Super Nationals winner Dallon Murty made a spectacular charge from 22nd in the Darin Duffy-owned no. 99X to finish second. Six-time North Central Speedway track champion Aaron Johnson of Minnesota was third, while Yeager secured the final transfer spot in fourth.
Hays, Kansas hotshoe Dakota Sproul outlasted a caution-plagued Friesen Performance IMCA Modified Qualifier 2, punching his ticket into the inside row of Saturday’s Big Dance. As in Qualifier 1, the top four finishers also locked themselves into the Dance later in the week.
Reigning Wisconsin State Modified champion Cole Czarneski shot to the point on the opening lap before Sproul challenged low and led the race on lap four. The 2025 Midwest Madness Tour champion never looked back despite several restarts. Sproul was strong each time, checking out for the win.
Czarneski settled for second, 2021 Super Nationals winner Cody Laney of California charged from 16th to finish third, and three-time Bakersfield Speedway champion Jerry Flippo, originally from the Golden State and now Iowa-based, came from 15th to hold off Jake McBirnie for the final transfer in fourth.
The event was broadcast live on IMCA TV. Catch the replay with a monthly IMCA TV Replay Subscription for $24.99/month, and don’t miss Season 2 of the Boone Docuseries, streaming exclusively on IMCA TV.
