Rod End Supply Diamond Dirt Duel features USAC Sprints at Lucas oil Speedway
WHEATLAND, MO.—Lucas Oil Speedway kicks off a big month of September this Saturday as the USAC Sprint Cars return to the speedway for the first time in nearly two decades.
The Rod End Supply Diamond Dirt Duel will bring the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship back to Wheatland for the second half of a weekend doubleheader that begins Friday at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois.
The 30-lap feature will pay $6,000 to the winner. Hickamo Super Stocks also will be on the program with Hickamo adding money to make it a $1,000-to-win feature.
Lucas Oil Speedway’s only previous time playing host to the USAC Sprints came in September of 2006 with Josh Wise capturing the feature victory in Tony Stewart Racing’s No. 20 car.
The state of Missouri has hosted 23 previous USAC National Sprint Car events dating back to 1970. Among the many USAC National Sprint Car regulars expected to be on hand for the Rod End Supply Dirt Duel are series champions Justin Grant, Logan Seavey and C.J. Leary, plus feature winning drivers Kyle Cummins, Jake Swanson, Briggs Danner, Mitchel Moles, Kevin Thomas Jr. and Jadon Rogers.
Cummins, of Princeton, Ind., leads the championship standings by 258 points over Moles of Raisin City, California. Seavey, of Cutter, California., is third 276 behind Cummins.
