Thunderstorms, Heavy Rainfall Cancel Desert Showdown Finale at Vado

VADO, N.M.—With thunderstorms bringing heavy rainfall to Vado Speedway Park Saturday evening leaving the track unsuitable for racing, World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car and track officials have agreed to cancel the Desert Showdown finale.

The decision comes after track personnel labored diligently to work the track in, but the surface received too much precipitation.

If you purchased a ticket in advance for Saturday’s race at Vado, you will receive a face-value credit to your MyDirtTickets.com account – good for two years – to be used toward any World of Outlaws event available at WorldofOutlaws.com/tix. If a credit to your account does not work for you, then you have until Oct. 6 to request a refund.

If you purchased a ticket or pit pass at the track, the ticket or wristband must be mailed to 7575 W Winds Blvd NW Ste D, Concord, NC 28027 in an envelope postmarked by Oct. 6 to receive a refund.

The World of Outlaws now shifts its focus to a two-week stay in California starting at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway on Friday, Sept. 12 and Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 13. For tickets, CLICK HERE.

David Gravel leads the points in search of his second straight championship. Michael “Buddy” Kofoid and Carson Macedo hold down the second and third positions.

If you can’t make it to the track, catch every lap live on DIRTVision.
