Rico Abreu Adds 10th High Limit Win and hangs on to points lead at Lawrenceburg

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.—It was at 2:45pm on Wednesday afternoon that Dale Jr's Dirty Mo Media broke the news that Rico Abreu would drive the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing #24 with Kubota High Limit Racing in 2026.

Then, a mere six hours later, he was standing in Whiskey Myers Victory Lane for the 10th time this season in his own Rico Abreu/Curb-Agajanian Racing outfit - and he made it there in spectacular fashion at Lawrenceburg Speedway.

After leader Corey Day, who made it to the front with several jaw-dropping moves, dropped out due to a flat tire caused by a brake fire on Lap 23, the stage was set for a one-v-one duel between the Kubota High Limit Racing championship leader, Abreu, and the top Rayce Rudeen Foundation Rookie of the Year contender, Daison Pursley.

Coming down to the last lap, the Driven2SaveLives Battle at the 'Burg suddenly become a three-way fight out of nowhere and happened to supply the second-closest finish in Kubota High Limit Racing history.

Ultimately, Abreu held on to the top spot by a mere 0.026-seconds (twenty six, one-thousandths) over Aaron Reutzel who shot out of a cannon. Pursley was still right with them, crossing there stripe behind by 0.304-seconds (three, one-hundredths).

For the St. Helena, California native - who now runs his race team out of Brownsburg, Indiana - the win marked his first-ever Sprint Car victory at Lawrenceburg Speedway, to go with three USAC National Midget scores at the home of three-story sliders.

In his 99th start with the series, Abreu extended his mark as the winningest driver in Kubota High Limit Racing history with a 22nd score - a season-best 10 of those coming this year.

With nine races remaining, the Abreu #24 holds a 24-points advantage over the Ridge & Sons Racing #87 and a 39-point lead over the Kasey Kahne Racing #49 in pursuit of his first-career national touring sprint car title. He also jolted to the lead of the Roto-Rooter Midweek Series chase with Tanner Thorson (-6), Brad Sweet (-9), and Aaron Reutzel (-12) hot on his heels with one race left to decide that $20,000 bonus.

Following podium finisher Aaron Reutzel and Daison Pursley across the stripe at Lawrenceburg was Justin Peck, Brad Sweet, Corey Day, Parker Price-Miller, Chase Randall, Brady Bacon, and Tanner Thorson.
