Night 1 of Hockett-McMillin Memorial rained out at Lucas Oil Speedway
WHEATLAND, MO.—Persistent rain forced cancellation of Thursday night's scheduled opener of the 15th annual Jesse Hockett-Daniel McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway.
The event, featuring POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprints and POWRi WAR Sprints, will move forward with a single, complete show on Friday night. Drivers will need to re-draw pills and sign in, with Friday’s event running as originally scheduled.
On Saturday, the format will shift to another complete program featuring qualifying, heat races, semi-features and championship features. There will be no lock-ins from Friday — both nights will be full, stand-alone shows.
Lucas Oil Speedway will be issuing vouchers for pit passes purchased Thursday, valid for any remaining event this season as well as during next season.
The Hockett-McMillin Memorial recognizes the legacy of Jesse Hockett, from Warsaw, Mo., who was a star in both the winged and non-wing sprint divisions when he lost his life in a shop accident in 2010. His cousin and crew chief, Daniel McMillin, was killed in an automobile accident in 2006.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday with hot laps at 6:30 and racing to follow.
