WHEATLAND, Mo.—Two full-fender divisions will comprise a big weekend of action coming up at Lucas Oil Speedway. The 9th annual Hickamo Super Stocks Big Buck 50 Presented by Whitetail Trophy Hunt plus the Late Model Fall Nationals fire up what’s become an October classic.
The final multi-night special of the season will see action beginning on Thursday night with an open practice from 6-9 p.m. followed by time trial qualifying for the Super Stocks to set their field for heat-race lineups on Friday night. Alphabet mains and the 50-lap, $10,000 main event Big Buck 50 are set for Saturday night.
Along with the big money, the Super Stock champion will receive a spot in the exclusive Big Buck Whitetail Trophy Hunt in mid-Missouri in November. A star-studded field of Super Stocks is expected for the event with Whitetail Trophy owner Craig Danuser the title sponsor as he was in previous renditions of the event.
This year marks the 37th anniversary of the Whitetail Trophy Hunt with this year and next year already sold out. But the Big Buck 50 winner will get a spot to compete in an event that has awarded more than $5 million in cash and prizes to fortunate hunters since its inception.

Peyton Taylor of Batesville, Ark., is the defending champion and three-time Big Buck 50 winner. Last season, Taylor drove from 25th to first to nip Derek Brown - but he will not be on hand to try and defend his title. Taylor's family is promoting a big Modified event at Batesville Motor Speedway this weekend that pays a possible $18,000 for a sweep.
"It was a really difficult decision for me," Taylor said in a message, noting that it's just four miles from his house. "The Big Buck at Lucas may be my favorite event, just the atmosphere with all my buddies and their teams from back in the day. I'm really gonna miss it this year."
Past winners of the Big Buck along with Taylor (2024, 2020 and 2019) are Tony Anglin (2017), Tim Brown (2016), Jeremy Russell (2015) and Terry Schultz (2014). The event was rained out in 2018 and there was not a Big Buck from 2021-23.
Meanwhile, the Late Model Fall Nationals also will see big payouts in full programs on Friday and Saturday nights as the feature winners will earn $5,000 and $10,000, respectively. Ryan Gustin and Chris Simpson won the Fall Nationals a year ago when it was run the Lucas Oil MLRA sanction.
