Giovanni Scelzi to Drive Chili's No. 77 for Spire Motorsports on High Limit Racing Tour
MOORESVILLE, N.C.—A new name will enter sprint car racing in 2026 as Spire Motorsports tabs Giovanni Scelzi to chase the Kubota High Limit Racing championship in a Chili’s, Gainbridge sponsored No. 77.
Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson, who has spearheaded the rise of the company into consistent contenders in the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Truck Series, couldn’t be more thrilled to bring Spire’s vision and pursuit for greatness to the 410 sprint car ranks he has long loved.
“Going on the road with High Limit is like a dream come true and to do this with people I have deep respect and appreciation for makes it even better,” Dickerson said. “We’ve worked with and for Kyle Larson, Brad Sweet, Kendra Jacobs, and Josh Peterman for years and I have an immense amount of gratitude to them for not only building a great series but for making a series that offers long-term growth to all of us in a sport we all love. I’m thankful to Tim Clauson and the Marshalls for providing us a launch pad to make this jump and we look forward to working closely this season.”
In an effort aligned with Clauson-Marshall Racing, Spire has hired renowned crew chief Eric Prutzman to wrench for Scelzi’s new ride. The future National Sprint Car Hall of Famer has been part of 10 total national championships in his career, four of those as a crew member for Donny Schatz at Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing and another six as the leader of Brad Sweet’s reign at Kasey Kahne Racing w/ Mike Curb.
The call to put “Hot Sauce” Giovanni Scelzi in the seat of the Chiili’s No. 77 instantly puts Spire Motorsports into winning contention. The 24-year-old native of Fresno, California is one of the brightest young stars in the sport today. Included on his resume is 11 national victories and a 2023 World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year title. He was highly accomplished from the start, becoming the youngest winner in World of Outlaws history and Knoxville Raceway early as a teenager. Heading into 2026, Gio’s goal is sustained greatness as he focuses on championships and leaving a mark with this new team.
“To see the enthusiasm from the employees at Spire Motorsports, that’s really something that made an impact on me,” Scelzi noted. “The NASCAR stuff is their job but it’s obvious they enjoy sprint car racing. When you have an owner like Jeff Dickerson who truly loves sprint car racing and comes from the background, it really makes this an exciting opportunity. The guys who run up front all have elite equipment, so, now more than ever, it’s the people that matter. Having someone as accomplished as Eric Prutzman is just as important.”
Carrying a High Roller Club membership card, Spire Motorsports has purchased the “9 card” from Jason Meyers Racing – who competed full-time with Corey Day and Spencer Bayston in 2024-25. The High Roller Club, which focuses on creating a sustainable business model for race teams, will distribute up to $18 million in total value over the next four years. Membership cards grant permanent, long-term participation rights designed to drive alignment between Kubota High Limit Racing and its team owners, while guaranteeing annual payouts and providing stability for those in possession.
The 65-race coast-to-coast slate with Kubota High Limit Racing officially begins on March 12-14 with the Blackjack Bash at Las Vegas Motor Speedway – a three-day season-opening event held in conjunction with NASCAR weekend. The year-long title chase will conclude with the All-In Championship Weekend at Texas Motor Speedway on October 16-17.
Prior to the 2026 High Limit campaign, Scelzi and Spire Motorsports will make their first outing during the 40th annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 12-17. A previous Championship A-Main starter and Rookie of the Year at the event, Scelzi will pilot a Chili’s sponsored entry prepared by legendary midget car owner Keith Kunz. The entire week at Chili Bowl, plus the entire Kubota High Limit Racing season, will be streamed live on FloRacing.
