Larson goes Back-to-back for the big money at High Limit International

PERTH, WA, Aust.—On the global stage of High Limit International, Western Australia's world-class Perth Motorplex once again proved why it is quickly rising many racers and fans' favorite race track on earth.
With the richest payday in Australian Speedway history on the line - $110,000 AUD - a fleet of invading Americans and proud Aussies delivered a sensational show on the outskirts of Kwinana Beach.
After fellow Californians Corey Day and Buddy Kofoid topped the opening two nights of the event, it was Elk Grove, CA native Kyle Larson doing what he does on night three - showing up big time with big money on the line.
Earning back-to-back High Limit International titles, Larson's second crown in the event was by far the most thrilling. He became the third different leader on Lap 15 after following early pace setters Dayne Kingshott (Laps 1-6) and Buddy Kofoid (Laps 7-14), but it was in the late stages when the race really picked up pace.
It was Clovis, CA native Corey Day who brought the challenge to Larson first as he ripped the Callum Williamson #U3 against the fence and caught the Jason Pryde owned #1K in a hurry. With the intensity at an all-time high at less than five to go, an engine failure for Rico Abreu in front of the leaders is what ultimately changed everything.
As Abreu's #U24 slowed, Larson got on the binders and dove low to avoid, but it allowed Day to pound the wall and fly by Larson to briefly take the lead on the top. Meanwhile, third-running Dayne Kingshott had nowhere to go and slammed into Abreu, sustaining significant damage on his #2.
The ensuing restart saw Day's right rear tire explode after banging it off the wall, and allowed the Aussie Kingshott one last chance at the American superstar, Larson.
With a beaten, battered, bruised, and mangled machine after the incident with Abreu, Kingshott still somehow was able to keep pace with Larson during a nail-biting green-white-checkered finish.
Ultimately, Larson was able to fend off Kingshott, though, and secure the $110,000 victory with his second High Limit International title. It was a popular second-place finish for the local hero Kingshott in the Krikke Motorsport ride. Kofoid concluded the podium with Cole Macedo and Luke Oldfield rounding out the top-five.
Closing out the top-10 at Perth was Carson Macedo, Jock Goodyer, Callum Williamson, Daniel Harding, and Brock Zearfoss.
It was announced that the third annual High Limit International will return to Perth Motorplex on December 28-30, 2026 with the race continuing to set a new Australian record at $20,000-to-win prelims and $120,000-to-win main event.
